Keshi Anderson and Gary Madine netted as Blackpool beat rivals Preston North End at home for the first time in 24 years.
Anderson broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when he drilled a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Ben Whiteman fired narrowly wide for Preston just after the break following a swift counter-attack.
But Madine sealed victory, sliding on to Jerry Yates' through ball, before Preston's Alan Browne was sent off late on.
Browne's dismissal - for a second yellow card after a melee that saw a flurry of bookings - summed up a day to forget for Preston, who are yet to win away from home in the league this season.
But Blackpool will celebrate after coming out on top in the first league meeting of these rivals since a goalless draw at Deepdale in February 2010.
Anderson's opener ensured no repeat of that stalemate, and Richard Keogh could have doubled the lead before the break only to nod over the bar.
Preston had a great chance to level when they had a four-on-one break, but Whiteman could not apply the finish.
Madine could, however, with his first goal since January - and his first in the second tier since 2019 - sealing victory.
Blackpool manager Neil Critchley told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"It was a really good goal, the second goal, and we've seen the game out quite comfortably in the end. It's a great win.
"These days are for the supporters. They can go and enjoy their night tonight, I'm delighted for them.
"I think we'll get better. I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing. This group of players, with their character, resilience and an ability to listen and learn, will improve."
Preston North End manager Frankie McAvoy told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"I don't think there's a great deal in terms of opportunities and chances between each of us.
"I'm just so disappointed that they have managed to come out on top.
"I work hard as best as I can to try and get the best results we can. We've won three and drawn six of the 14 games we have played - we need to do better."
