Not nice to see scenes like this at a football match again, but if this and the one in the summer lead to anything, please let it be for you to book yourself on a CPR course. Ideally book an annual refresher too. It can be daunting to jump in if needed but you’ll feel so much more comfortable if you’ve had a refresher in the previous few months.

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more frequently, given the numbers, the demographics and the tensions during the course of games

Don't know the stats on MI's per million per annum but as you say, being prepared goes a very long way to saving lives

As an aside to this, didn't we employ Fabrice Muamba in some capacity a few years ago? Didn't hear much about him afterwards though.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

There was a little disquiet locally that it took too long for the stadium staff to react, but pleasing to see that a local doctor and nurse where able to administer CPR whilst St Johns brought equipment in a relatively short time. The fan is also fortunate to have the only UK hospital placed in Europe's top 20 less than half a mile away.

Having witnessed yet another fall down the steps in the main stand at COA last game, and no steward response at all, I do wonder what our capability would be if this happened at one of our games. I approached one of our stewards to ask why they hadn't responded and he just shrugged his shoulders. The stewarding at Spotland remains completely inadequate.

I'm not normally one to mix work and Dale if I can help it but I can only echo what Shun has said here.

I work for St John Ambulance and we offer the CPR training. A defib is a brilliant bit of kit but it's absolutely vital to be able to do CPR alongside it.

I'm not on commission or anything like that (I wish!) but if anyone is interested in booking onto a training course, our website is https://www.sja.org.uk

You can also purchase defibrillators on there.

No I can't sort any discount!
