The news media imo create the news and this so called "crisis" is a case in point .

This is an old headline but was repeated yesterday as a headline on our wonderful all encompassing inclusive WoL. Feeding the fire as they say

Journalism has been replaced by sensationalist nonsense. All this stems from a situation where less than 10 petrol stations out of 8,000 were without fuel
on a particular day.
As a public service broadcaster paid for by taxation the BBC have been pushing out some pretty awful reporting since Thursday. They have not been serving the public.

It's a shame people can't think for themselves instead of blaming the media

Firstly I don't recall the public creating the story and secondly enough people can be stupid and the media know that, a match made in hell .

Yeah, it's not like people have fallen for media nonsense before. Look at covid, look at all the lies put out on internet media and people believe it completely.

You over look one basic fact, people can be very stupid, VERY!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

The kid behind the counter last night seemed bemused by it all. They have had the usual deliveries, amounting to the usual reserves it’s just that people have gone berserk!

Absolute nonsense it is, Cat. Where somebody would normally call in and perhaps put £20 in they are all trying to jam £60 or £70 in the tank, whether they need to travel or not?

These clowns are allowed to vote!

No wonder they are struggling to find drivers, when they are paying only £11 per hour.

Their drivers do get paid for breaks, and get £17 per hour for everything over 40 hours.
I know that as a neighbour works for them. Takes home about £2500 a month. Not bad.

The same fear tactic propaganda that we've seen for nearly 2 years for Covid is now being used for petrol shortages yet you can't make the connection.

Tesco Llansamlet was the same Sunday night. No queue, plenty of Diesel and Unleaded. No premium stuff. Looked largely the same in Morrisons Morfa last night too.

Give it a few more days and everything will be back to normal.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I see the panic buying has led to an increase at the pumps as garage owners seek to profit from a self inflicted petrol shortage.

I actually needed petrol when I went and I do usually only put £20 per week in but looking at the queses, I filled up, as everyone else was doing. £48 later I had a full tank and 2 weeks worth of petrol.

So many people went berserk it forced the rest of us, just in case. My other nearest garage at the top of Skewen/Birchgrove is still open and the queues were small today, because everyone has a full tank probably.

Are we going to see it again when everyone gets down to less than half a tank, another rush on the stations? Until the government sorts it out we could see it come in cycles?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Games being postponed due to UK fuel shortage by KeithHaynes 28 Sep 2021 10:30
The ongoing and much talked about fuel crisis hits English football with leagues postponing matches throughout this week.

The current fuel shortage is causing havoc with the non league schedule as games continue to be called off with teams struggling to travel to stadiums up and down the country.

Petrol stations up and down the country were raided on Friday and throughout the weekend as consumers made desperate attempts to fill up. Reports of a fuel shortage caused by a lack of HGV drivers has caused panic among many leaving football clubs lower down the football pyramid to suffer. Even though some journeys are considered minimal in mileage, clubs are still not keen to take the risk.

Herne Bay, who play in the eighth tier of English football, have postponed their game with Ramsgate, who are just 14 miles away. In a statement they said: “The Isthmian League sent out an opportunity to clubs to postpone their midweek fixtures due to the fuel shortage, and anticipated difficulties getting players, officials and supporters to matches.

“Ramsgate shortly after accepted this option and have asked to postpone our fixture due to travel difficulties. “This is outside our control.” Bowers Pitsea vs Corinthian-Casuals and Hornchurch vs Folkestone Invicta, both seventh tier clashes, have also fallen foul to the fuel shortage. Hastings United were due to host Ashford United, which would’ve been a 50 miles round trip for the visitors.
