We need to either sell or loan players to make room in the squad for new arrivals.
Possible outgoings: 1 keeper and use the development 'keeper as no.3. That means Moore is the most likely.
Centre halves: We've got 5. That's 1 too many. Tharme out on loan.
Defensive midfield. Playing only 1 defensive mid would require us to have 2 on the books. For different reasons Virtue and Stewart could go.
Attacking midfield: We've got 6 plus U21 Carey. If Appleton is planning on a 4-1-4-1 we could do with one, or even 2 more. There must be question marks over Dale, Hamilton and Lubala.
Strikers: We need 3 if we're going to play a loan striker. Lavery and Madine are the most likely to leave. We need to recruit at least 1 player who's effective in the solo role.
There's plenty off leeway for outgoings. I've highligtd 9 possible players who could be sold / loaned and we need 1 right back, 1 or 2 advanced midfielders, and 1 or 2 strikers (minimum 3 players / maximum 5 players needed).
In the past the recruitment team has picked up some fine players at the end of their contracts on frees. Nothing this year. | |

His main attributes are his committment and grit.

I think the whole Appleton thing can work but to have the right players for what he wants to do at a very minimum we still need a robust midfield all-rounder and a robust lone striker. Also it'd be nice to have specialist right back cover and advanced left.
