Stockport C. vs Chesterfield 20:50 - Nov 4 with 30958 viewsD_Dale

At half-time in tonight's replay that will decide Dale's FA Cup opponents, Stockport lead 2-0. A pity in a way as Dale would probably have stood a better chance of beating Chesterfield. Still, whichever side it is, the winners will face a big challenge to prepare for Saturday.

Mmm. Now 3-0 and almost certain Dale's opponents to be Stockport on Saturday.

The main purpose of the posting was to suggest Chesterfield, 17th in their league, would have been Dale's preferred opponents to Stockport, 2nd in that league, had someone at Chesterfield not messed up the paperwork.

It'll be our first meeting since that fateful day at Wembley

Given the state of our pitch, at least it'll be a level playing field this time

And they claimed they'd never play us again!

Judging by their commentators in pre-season they'll be planning who they want in round two already!

Apparently they’ve been at that all season. Made worse as at NL the streams are run by the home team so only one commentary team. Saturday’s game v Weymouth the commentary team talking about a matter of many they’d score and when they win the league. They lost 2-1 to a part time team ffs.
I’m assuming only “home” commentary on Sat as Stockport not on iFollow. Would hope our guys are a bit more professional and not talking about the game as if we’ve already won it and the Cup is ours to lose. That said, if we’re 5-0 up no harm laying into them ;).

Another financial kicking.
Under normal circumstances there would have been a decent attendance for this fixture.

I spoke to one last night who by his own admission "everyone's expecting us to win the league anyway" and deserve to with crowds of 6k in none league!!
And many "cheats never prosper" comments on their own news feed regarding Chesterfield, they are all very "bury"ish

Aye. That and I reckon had this been the original draw it would’ve been on telly either as a full game or at the least the live highlights show on BBC on Sunday.

How does BBM approach and tackle this game.....we have players like Beesley and Newby who need a rest. Players like McShane and McLaughlin who need wrapping up in cotton wool. Do we play the loanees, who are the backbone of the team but also need a rest, and we do not want injured?

And who do we bring in the "prolific" Done or Dooley?

Let's hope that Messsrs Baah and Humphrys are at least bit players

Stockport C. vs Chesterfield on 12:24 - Nov 5 with 9210 viewsboromat

Lynch
McLaughlin McShane Jim Dunne
Hooper Brierley Dooley
Done Humphrys Tavares

Basically change as many players as we can would be my approach. Team needs a rest and the squad needs breaking in, we've been too reliant on a small number of players so far. Same goes for Tuesday night.

We olay our strongest side available, don’t forget there is prize money at stake, also if we get to 3rd round and a plum draw possibility of TV

We need to win the tie for the financial rewards and potential rewards further down the line.

We are playing a non-league team who played their last game 24 hours after we did.

We are playing a team who will have more reason than most to want to knock us out.

We play the strongest available team we can, otherwise what's the point?

Tuesday night is a different matter completely.

I'd also guess McShane and Humphrys might still be injured.

Agree with TVOS. It would be madness to change the team as much as Boromat suggests. That can wait until Tuesday.

I think you're all probably right in what will happen; strong team Saturday, second string Tuesday.

I'd still be tempted to do some rotation on Saturday. Luckily it's not my decision 😂

We were always going to have problems like this given the size of the squad. The postponement of the Charlton match is welcome and gives Humphrys more time to get back to full fitness.

Indeed. A timely postponement this, allowing the squad 11 days much-needed respite and for those who don't play against Salford, a full fortnight

This will perhaps help energise some tired limbs for Saturday's FA Cup tie too

Means we'll be playing our next four games at home

Thats great news regarding the Charlton game. The players can have a much needed rest before 2 vital home games v Wimbledon and Northampton and Humphrys should definitely be back by then.

Stockport C. vs Chesterfield on 16:14 - Nov 5 with 8792 viewsShun

While not suggesting we change the team as much as boromat suggested, we simply can't stick to the same XI every week. Our squad is tiny and we've played twice a week most weeks. Burnout is inevitable if we don't have some rotation.

I'd be starting, at a minimum, Lynch (if available), Tavares, McNulty and Dooley. I'd also like to see more youth involvement. Players like Ryan and Rathbone look absolutely exhausted lately and need a rest. The same XI can't be expected to play twice a week with such regularity.

After Saturday we can change for the Salford game then we don’t play again for 11 days so it gives us a break to rest mentioned players
