wigan on 09:16 - Jul 24 with 4920 views | Dalenet | Why? I find it fascinating that a small non league club have been able to achieve what they have done. A self made local man investing his wealth into a club and stadium and the fans have enjoyed a great ride. Wouldn't we all have enjoyed the same ride had we had such a benefactor? For all the "laundered" money from foreign owners, a local man creating a success story and putting the town on the map is to be admired Of course the challenge is what happens after they have moved on. Selling to people with limited morals, and scant regard to history and the community in which they sit, is a gamble. Having read the book The Overcoat Men over lockdown I am grateful that we are stable and here to tell the story. But I can't see why we should be annoyed about a local club that has represented their town for good. Just as long as they don't cheat their way out of the position they find themselves

wigan on 10:13 - Jul 24 with 4854 views | Shun | I don’t mind them at all. I put them on the same likability factor as Blackburn, which is streets ahead of Bolton. And they get extra credit for the Will Grigg song. Horrible concrete stadium though. I do have sympathy for them though and that’s the first time I can say that about any team who’s gone into administration.

wigan on 15:34 - Jul 24 with 4473 views | foreverhopefulDale | They spent money beyond their means, and I will not be surprised if they carry on doing so, being able to attract more expensive players and paying bigger wages than many other clubs. I have no sympathy for them, but plenty of naive people will have.

wigan on 15:39 - Jul 24 with 4456 views | judd | I feel sorry for them.

wigan on 15:43 - Jul 24 with 4444 views | 100notout | I did but when you see that they spent 168% of their income just on wages its hard to feel any sympathy for them whatsoever. Living way beyond their means and can't therefore see their appeal being successful

wigan on 16:20 - Jul 24 with 4395 views | foreverhopefulDale | So do you not think that at least some of their predicament is self inflicted? Do you not think that they have overspent, as per their income? Unless they were promised income that they didn’t receive, they have overspent. I do have sympathy for them being ripped off by their last owner, but maybe they didn’t employ good enough due diligence, just like Bury didn’t with SD1.
