Here's the Mercury Prize shortlist. I recognise 3 of the names - and it diminishes every year.

Is anyone even less 'with it' than I am?

I'm more 'without it' than 'with it' too. I only got 4 of them. Stormzy and Dua Lipa often appear on TV while Charlie XCX and Laura Marling have both been around for years. Apart from that, didn't have a clue who the rest were.

I read somewhere that most of the posters on football message boards (not just this one) are over 50 and that any new poster who appears is more likely to be just an old poster returning with a different username.

I recognise six , mainly due to listening to 6Music most of day, whilst working from home

Michael Kiwanuka lives in Southampton, and mate from work goes to same church as him.

The Dua Lipa album is really good, in my humble opinion.

No idea on the rest, though I quite like the stuff of Georgia’s that I have heard.

I’ve only heard of 3 too and haven’t heard the music of 2 of them. I’ve got a Laura Marling album but that is it! My kids got me into Alt-J but I guess they are old hat now!

What, you don't really like any music? That's a bit of a mystery to me, as I can listen to most things and enjoy them. Listening to a bit of jazz piano as I write (and work).

A few years ago, to appear cool to my kids and on the recommendation of my youngest daughter, I bought the Mercury winning James Blake’s Overgrown. I think I have only ever played it twice.
