Getting Old - Mercury Prize list 12:25 - Jul 23 with 5539 views | DorsetIan | Here's the Mercury Prize shortlist. I recognise 3 of the names - and it diminishes every year. Is anyone even less 'with it' than I am? Anna Meredith - FIBS Charli XCX - How I’m Feeling Now Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia Georgia - Seeking Thrills Lanterns on the Lake - Spook the Herd Laura Marling - Song For Our Daughter Kano - Hoodies All Summer Michael Kiwanuka - KIWANUKA Moses Boyd - Dark Matter Porridge Radio - Every Bad Sports Team - Deep Down Happy Stormzy - Heavy Is The Head And can anyone recommend any of these albums?

Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 12:34 - Jul 23 with 4334 views | dirk_doone | I'm more 'without it' than 'with it' too. I only got 4 of them. Stormzy and Dua Lipa often appear on TV while Charlie XCX and Laura Marling have both been around for years. Apart from that, didn't have a clue who the rest were. I read somewhere that most of the posters on football message boards (not just this one) are over 50 and that any new poster who appears is more likely to be just an old poster returning with a different username. Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 12:35 - Jul 23 with 4331 views | SalisburySaint | I recognise six , mainly due to listening to 6Music most of day, whilst working from home Michael Kiwanuka lives in Southampton, and mate from work goes to same church as him.
Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 12:46 - Jul 23 with 4320 views | dirk_doone | Well, he seems to have done well for himself. I just looked up his website: https://www.michaelkiwanuka.com/ I've now listened to a couple of his songs on Spotify. They remind me very much of 60s Stax and Tamla Motown. Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 14:37 - Jul 23 with 4258 views | PatfromPoole | The Dua Lipa album is really good, in my humble opinion. No idea on the rest, though I quite like the stuff of Georgia’s that I have heard.

Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 15:49 - Jul 23 with 4231 views | Sadoldgit | I’ve only heard of 3 too and haven’t heard the music of 2 of them. I’ve got a Laura Marling album but that is it! My kids got me into Alt-J but I guess they are old hat now!

Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 22:27 - Jul 23 with 4121 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | Actually, I hadn't heard if it as an award either - I'm not THAT into music in all honesty. Never have the radio on or music channels.
| |
Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 22:44 - Jul 23 with 4116 views | DorsetIan | What, you don't really like any music? That's a bit of a mystery to me, as I can listen to most things and enjoy them. Listening to a bit of jazz piano as I write (and work). Nothing grabs you - bit of classical, choral, big band, folk?

Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 23:27 - Jul 23 with 4099 views | Sadoldgit | A few years ago, to appear cool to my kids and on the recommendation of my youngest daughter, I bought the Mercury winning James Blake’s Overgrown. I think I have only ever played it twice. [Post edited 23 Jul 2020 23:28]

Getting Old - Mercury Prize list on 10:23 - Jul 24 with 3984 views | DorsetIan | I wish I was better at doing that. I waste a huge amount of time (when not doing that on here) trying to find just the right music to work to. This week I are been mostly lisnin' to jazz.
