Is the lock down ending too soon? on 18:14 - Jul 2 with 3392 views | exhmrc1 | An independent Wales would have its government whoever it elects whether that be Drakeford or anyone else. Who are you suggesting Paul or Andrew Davies, Kirsty Williams or Leanne Wood or Adam Price. Do you think firstly any of them would get elected and if so would they do a better job. The Davies guys are Boris types, Williams is already in government and I am not very impressed with Wood or Price at all.
Is the lock down ending too soon? on 18:25 - Jul 2 with 3379 views | londonlisa2001 | Well I wouldn’t suggest the Tories as none of them are one nation Tories - they are all Johnson acolytes - and as I’ve said in the post you replied to I’d expect the Welsh government to look after its people. The Johnson brand of toxic Tory is abhorrent, Leanne Wood is a moron. Adam Price on the face of it has the right credentials but he’s been far too silent on the adverse impact on the Welsh economy of the WG’s continued indecisiveness. I’d have expected more from him during the last few months. I think he’s been too easily silenced by a seat at the table. I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone that’s particularly good to be honest, with the caveat that I only see a small number as I don’t live in Wales. It’s a frequently mentioned opinion from people in big business that when they meet the Scottish representatives they are well briefed, on top of the facts, able to argue, and good at standing their ground for Scottish interests. The Welsh representatives are viewed as poor in comparison. There are lots of great business people and great thinkers in Wales - it’s just a case of getting rid of the old fashioned mentality that is too prevalent.
Is the lock down ending too soon? on 18:27 - Jul 2 with 3378 views | Kilkennyjack | So all the worlds experts are wrong then ...? The key is to unlock to get better virus figures ? Seems a bit strange don't you think ? The virus cant move on its own. It relies on people moving around to spread. But you think that unlocking somehow delivers better outcomes than a lockdown. Rightio ... 🤷â€â™‚ï¸

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 18:38 - Jul 2 with 3368 views | exhmrc1 | To be perfectly honest it would be a Labour politician. Even in last years election with the worst Labour leader in living memory the Tories didnt achieve anything like a majority. I have never been a Drakeford fan but he has done well over coronavirus. Anyone who associates himself with Corbyn is a worry. I used to think Kirsty Williams was OK but she hasnt done too well in Education recently and I really think Price doesnt cut it
Is the lock down ending too soon? on 19:36 - Jul 2 with 3342 views | Vincent_Vega | I say Lisa I don’t agree with you on many topics but this, spot on!! This is what the nationalists aren’t getting. If Wales is to stand independent it must stand on its own two feet, no EU grants, no woe is me look at England taking our water and taxes and being a nasty pasty. We need to grow a set of nads and work ourselves out of this shit. What’s the point of banging on about independence when we would surrender it all back to Brussels? It makes no sense. Wales needs to invest in its own, invest in itself. Support local if you can, encourage the bright and brilliant to stay and not move to London because there’s nothing here. Wales needs to back itself. Only then can the big I be debated properly.

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 20:04 - Jul 2 with 3320 views | Flashberryjack | She's right though, Leanne Wood, Kirsty Williams, Vaughan Gething and the mighty Drakeford. Wales deserves more than these clowns.

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 20:32 - Jul 2 with 3281 views | rockinjac | I’ll bet he doesn’t work, my guess retired I would bet the views on lockdown mirror your situation Those of us genuinely concerned about our jobs/businesses and futures look at it in a different way to those who are comfortable. It’s an I’m alright Jack mentality. [Post edited 2 Jul 2020 20:36]

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 21:22 - Jul 2 with 3229 views | Professor | Localised lockdowns have to now be the way forward I agree. We just need to ensure test and trace is good enough and people are sensible to follow fairly rigid 2-3 weeks local lockdown. It may need to be policed

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 21:58 - Jul 2 with 3193 views | Kilkennyjack | What a stupid fecking question. This is Swansea not Chelsea. How many Swans fans dont have to work ? None i have ever met. I can confirm that i am not Prince Albert of Monaco. Which is a shame. Grow the feck up. Play the ball not the man.

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 22:15 - Jul 2 with 3169 views | londonlisa2001 | You didn’t answer the question. The reason I have continued to ask is due to the remarkably different effect of remaining in lockdown for those who have a business or a private sector employer, compared to those who have a public sector employer or don’t work due to reasons of being retired or a student. If you aren’t someone whose livelihood depends on the economy opening up, it’s a very different set of considerations. Of course you’ll then want a zero risk option. You’re not worrying about feeding your family in two months’ time.

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 22:54 - Jul 2 with 3136 views | Professor | Plenty retired on here. If I were 55 I would take voluntary redundancy and semi-retirement. That 650 pension I pay a month is calling

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 09:18 - Jul 3 with 3047 views | rockinjac | Very interesting change of tone on here Looking at comments on BBC website as well The Welsh media would have you believe we’re all for the WAG policies, goodness knows they’ve tried to justify every nonsensical “very cautious” tweak. In reality the whole time the key has been being different to England no matter the economic and mental cost. Genuinely delighted to see that people are starting to wake up because I don’t want Wales to fall even further behind. I fear we’re too late though.
Is the lock down ending too soon? on 13:23 - Jul 3 with 3005 views | pencoedjack | I genuinely believe if there was a vote today Wales would vote to close the Welsh assembly. Complete waste of money, Drakeford has helped people realise how woeful they it/they are.
Is the lock down ending too soon? on 13:48 - Jul 3 with 3001 views | Scotia | I'm a bit surprised that one of the big players in hospitality like Tim Martin or Enterprise Inns haven't called Drakefords bluff yet and threatened to open anyway or walk away from Wales. I wouldn't blame them if they don't get an indication of a date soon. It looks like Wetherspoons aren't going to be opening until they can open inside and out so they obviously aren't impressed with yesterdays announcement of an extended period of dithering.
Is the lock down ending too soon? on 14:50 - Jul 3 with 2981 views | FieryJack | Bloody hell, Professor, you're in the right job there. That 650 is more than half what I take home in a month, and I certainly won't be able to retire until I get my state pension at 67 😢
Is the lock down ending too soon? on 15:00 - Jul 3 with 2974 views | Professor | I do not complain about my renumeration. My tax, NI and Pension are about £2200 per month. As the USS (university academic) pension scheme is a mess our contributions have gone up massively to cover this. I'll get a mix of final and defined benefit. The scheme to new joiners is average. This is not so great as early wages are quite low. I'm 52. If I were 55 I could have got near 60K redundancy, about the same as a lump sum and about 26K a year pension plus state at 67. Could also still get about 800 quid a day consultancy too. I have been lucky, this I do not deny.
