Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 11:50 - Jun 8 with 921 views | FieryJack | An angry, deluded, ignorant, over-wrought youngster, possibly with "issues", carried away with the emotion of the possible confrontation about to happen in front of him... From this it would be unwise to denounce all the protestors in London as "scum". 15 years ago, or thereabouts, I can remember going to an away game at Nottingham Forest, and going for a pre-match drink at a pub in the shadow of Trent Bridge cricket ground. The pub was rammed with Swans fans, many of them disorderly. The staff had to phone the police after they were over-run, with some of our finest stealing drinks from behind the bar, and setting several tiny St. George flags on fire. I didn't conclude from this that the other 2000 Swans fans at the game were scum. You'll always get some effing confrontational idiots in a large crowd, many of them drunken 50+ year olds in my experience.
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 12:17 - Jun 8 with 892 views | Highjack | The scum are the ones committing criminal acts and trying to incite violence. I never suggested they were all scum and never would. It’s a fact we have these unwashed anarchist types turning up at every protest because they want to cause trouble and have a bit of a ruck, and it detracts from the peaceful protesters although I am quite incandescent with rage that the lockdown of the last three months has been essentially made null and void. If they can do this bring back the football. Let everyone die. Nobody gives a shit anymore.

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 12:56 - Jun 8 with 857 views | londonlisa2001 | Thankfully due to EU legislation the flag wouldn’t catch light... Anyway, they police dealt with it and the stupid little prat was rightly charged yesterday with criminal damage. There are always complete gits at every protest.
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 13:01 - Jun 8 with 849 views | londonlisa2001 | Why has the lockdown been made null and void? The virus is not at the same stage as it was in March, April and May. It remains to be seen whether it’s at a low enough level in the community to prevent the mass demonstrations causing a real issue. Let’s hope so. If there isn’t a spike in 3 weeks then we can safely say the worst has gone foe now at least, and we then have to wait to see if Autumn brings another surge, or whether it will disappear as the other corona virus outbreaks have done (neither SARS nor MERS had another wave as far as I know), or whether there is a vaccine by then. Other than the odd little cluster, mass gatherings on beaches etc don’t seem to have caused any wave.
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 13:11 - Jun 8 with 828 views | Highjack | Aye so we might as well be able to go back to the restaurants, the pub or the football. If they can walk around in groups of thousands why can’t we go to the pub or watch a game of football?

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 13:32 - Jun 8 with 802 views | londonlisa2001 | Well the same could be asked about why we can’t go to pubs and yet people have been allowed to go to the beach for over a month and are allowed to meet in each other’s gardens. Because the risk is, I assume, different. I would imagine sitting in a pub garden has a very different risk to inside or sitting in a restaurant inside. The countries which have seen a bit of a spike have done so as a result of gatherings inside. Sitting at a football match for almost two hours surrounded by the same cluster of people without moving around is different I imagine to walking around streets, however crowded. The length of time you spend with an infected person seems crucial, hence the tracing being done only if someone has spent 15 minutes in the company of someone who is infected. I imagine that in a demonstration that’s constantly moving, people walking, etc, people probably don’t spend 15 minutes within 2 metres of very many people, if anyone other than their own little group. I wouldn’t attend a demonstration at the moment, I’d assess the risk for me as too high, but I only base that on my assessment. We will find out in two or three weeks whether it has caused an issue, and hopefully it hasn’t.
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 13:47 - Jun 8 with 784 views | Highjack | It doesn’t matter how long you spend with someone. It’s whether you come in to contact with the droplets of an infected person. People shout and sing at these marches. There’s going to be saliva and phlegm flying all over the place. If people can go to demonstrations where the risk is high why can’t we go to pubs and football matches?

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 13:47 - Jun 8 with 784 views | jack247 | Because the government can shut pubs and stop football matches. They can’t stop thousands of people playing god with other people’s lives by attending protests, packing onto beaches because it’s sunny or having street parties because it’s VE Day and they haven’t been out for a while. Some people are just reckless, naive, selfish.
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:12 - Jun 8 with 773 views | londonlisa2001 | Better let the track and trace people know then as they think it’s pretty important. It’s what all the track and trace apps around the world are all based on.

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:26 - Jun 8 with 752 views | londonlisa2001 | A month ago when I was deeply concerned about the street parties for VE Day and said they should have been put on hold as I feared a second spike, you argued against me because people may not live to see the next opportunity to mark the occasion. Despite that night seeing fights, A&E admissions up all over the place, people doing congas, huge gatherings in the streets as people got drunk and careless, there was no spike. And we’re now a month further on. Perhaps the droplets generated from singing God Save The Queen and We’ll Meet Again are different from those generated by chanting Black Lives Matter? Who knows. As I said, I wouldn’t attend a march, but you can’t stop them any more than you can stop middle aged white people crush up in Bournemouth Beach. We can just hope that it’s fine.

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:36 - Jun 8 with 739 views | jack247 | You can’t really compare it. Both are pathetic in their own ways. What Cummings did in itself is nowhere near immersing himself in a massive crowd. However given his position, breaking the rules was completely inexcusable. It’s fair to say plenty would’ve looked at that and thought if he can do it, so can I. He set an awful example and in my opinion should have been sacked.
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:39 - Jun 8 with 737 views | Highjack | That was a response to you wanting to postpone VE Day completely and criticising the media for making a big deal of it. I never endorsed the parties or gatherings. That was idiotic too. My stance has been consistent on this. If everybody kept to the rules all this would be over sooner, but there is a significant but growing minority that keep giving this virus a chance to spread again. Hopefully it won’t.

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:41 - Jun 8 with 734 views | londonlisa2001 | Well the pubs open in two weeks anyway, so we can look forward to those that are currently moaning being able to do so down the pub.
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:44 - Jun 8 with 728 views | Highjack | He deserved all the criticism he got for breaking the rules he set and generally acting like a self serving, arrogant, lying cock. But the probability is his actions didn’t put anybody at risk apart from the passengers in his car. But the same people who rightly criticised Cummings are actively supporting countless thousands descending on London to sing and shout and fling their bodily fluids everywhere. As you said, hypocritical c*nts. [Post edited 8 Jun 2020 14:45]

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:46 - Jun 8 with 724 views | londonlisa2001 | Do you recognise that over two months separate the two incidents? And a huge number of rule changes? Or is that completely irrelevant?
Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 14:47 - Jun 8 with 722 views | Highjack | Yes it’s completely irrelevant.

Has our PM made any comments about the protests? on 18:45 - Jun 8 with 592 views | Catullus | Where we are is Cummings broke the rules and thousands of protestors are breaking the rules. I wonder how many of the protestors wanted Cummings sacked? I still don't know if Bojo has said anything of any use, he must be running scared of upsetting Trump. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

Cummings deserves stick for doing what he did, perhaps moreso given his position. But HJ is quite correct in saying that there's no doubt whatsoever that many of the people who would have been apopleptic about Cummings breaking the rules will be doing so now and not seeing the contradiction.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |
