My old dears phone is one of those simple ones with big numbers. She can now just about make phone calls, but has no idea what a text message is. It doesn’t have apps and she’d have no idea how to work it if it did.
If this app is rolled out and there are safeguards to ensure it doesn’t go beyond its remit then I think take up will be high among the smart phone generations, but not for over 70’s. | |

I have never understood why people objected to ID Cards and tracing and CCTV. If you are living a normal decent life and not doing dodgy criminal stuff, why would you care that they are watching? I think a lot of fraud and stuff would be eradicated if the system was more plugged in. | | | |

As far as I can tell if someone who has the app tests positive for the virus the app can identify other phones that have been in close proximity for any length of time
A text is then sent to that phone suggesting self isolation
It’s available now for NHS and council staff and the rest of us from tomorrow
I can only see it being really tested if the lockdown is lifted over here first | |

5G will make the accuracy far better than the old 4G network...after all its being rolled out to enable driver less cars...so has to be pretty damned precise in positioning ...perfect timing . | |
