I was only 8 or 9 when I saw him play but he did tend to get the ball over the posts more often than Rodger Blyth who was a decent full back.

Maybe he seemed a bit exotic at the time from my seat in the centre stand.

When Moreira came over for talks it looked like the deal had stalled.

At the time I played football on Sundays for the Plough.

Every Saturday night we would all go to Ritzys.

That particular night Moreira and his agent were in the queue behind us to get in.

We immediately spotted him and decided to take them under our wings and show them both a proper Jack night out.

Moreira couldn't speak much English but his agent explained that a deal was pretty much off.

Anyway, the buds flowed freely all night with Moreira and agent up on stage with us busting some moves until the early hours...

Monday morning he put pen to paper...

The rest is history 😁

Boyle yes I was going to put him in.
Bound was a class act at his level.

But yes behaved like a right greedy cnt in the dark times.

I did like Mardenborough but he just seemed to run into dead ends with little end product.
But yes there must have been worse wingers.
