The main cause for that goal was that Grimes had become our left-most midfielder having gone marking one of theirs (Johnson?) on the throw in, but the other two hadn't tracked back so there was no one goal side screening the back 4 in his place. One simple throw and Sinclair was running directly at our centre halves. Poor organisation.
If Gallagher or Byers had been where they should have been Grimes doesn't have to commit a foul chasing back, and our centre halves can back off to the edge of the area before committing as they normally would. | | | |

Or you could argue that Grimes shouldn't have got dragged that far out wide, because that allowed Sinclair to take up a position unmarked in the hole. In fairness to Byers and Gallagher, they were marking players (goalside) when that throw in took place. Why Grimes felt the need to go out there I'm not sure - especially when Sinclair was behind him. Poor goal though, all round. | | | |
