Are we now at a tipping point with Ralph as Manager? on 20:00 - Dec 14 with 1215 viewssaint22

It’s a big question and a tough one but he still looks lost on the sidelines
Tactics and substitutes still beg many questions
That said if he isn’t allowed to spend money on centre backs in January any manager left with the error strewn amateurs we have will struggle

To be fair, if he'd been managing that West Ham team today, they would have won just the same. They've got better players than we have.

We now have the same level of threadbare squad that Sunderland had when they were relegated. No matter how many times you change managers, it's not going to turn them into better quality players.

There were fundamental errors tactically wise from our management. I know we the supporters are not allowed to put forward our opinions regarding set up of our team etc but I am dismayed regarding the fundamental failings with the overall tactical appliance to each game. Help we the supporters should not be the ones pointing out the ongoing failings of this. We defiantly had the ability to overcome West Ham and if we were set up to outwit Pellegrini we could have at least won. We should have won even with our in-superior team. I am now one to outs Ralph even though I think his personality suits Southampton. Sorry to say this but tactically wise Ralph is out of his dept.

When he came up against the 2 teams with which we are evenly matched, Watford and Norwich, he beat them. How many of our players today would be good enough to get into that West Ham team? 2 or 3 at most.

Yes I agree with you there but we have players who are quicker then most of West Ham’s. Ralph’s inability to apply basic ability to preempt Pellegrini’s tactics (he Pellegrini would dominate mid field to stifle our forward advance and meant strong players like Romeu should start to offset this) Ralph did not see this and now we have to conclude Ralph is out of his dept.I really want Ralph to succeed but now cannot see him being able to get us out of relegation. Can now see us relegated but personally don’t mind that even though most do not warn this.

Despite overall deserving to win those games, both Watford and Norwich had gilt edged chances to get at least a draw in the last 10 mins.

Today WHU had a goal disallowed, luckily quite rightly be VAR as the ref and lino missed the handball, probably deserved a penalty - no way VAR would have over ruled ref if he gave it, set the tone from start and luckily forward strayed offside.

Shame for Ings, woodwork twice and then a good goal disallowed ... VAR or lack of it had to pay us back at some stage.

1 down at home, two midfielders on with 2 fast forwards left on the bench. Odd.

Yes, sadly I think, we could very well be.
And the only manager I can think of who would actually have been able to change things has just signed for Watford.
I can´t believe how poor we were today vs West H.

I have a feeling, could be wrong but Ralph falls out with a lot of players: Austin, Valery, Bertrand, possibly Boufal. Is it the idiot players or is Ralph upsetting them all? The team looked void of ideas today. It was slow and ponderous and mostly completely pointless. It was just so poor today. OK, only 1 0, but just stood there in the back row knowing we would lose. All the fans trooping out in silence at the end. Just all so depressing. Maybe it needs a change of manager to lift the mood. But long term it probably wouldn't make any difference.

What’s the point in changing him? I reckon we might as well just give up because everything about the club is rotten and can’t be fixed.

Yes that is the problem we have had too many manager changes and this reluctance to change again will get us relegated. Ralph has a problem with tactics and most unfortunately this lack of aptitude in the premier league will get us relegated this time. I don’t blame Ralph but hope they get the right manager to get us out of the Championship as quick as possible.

Ralph seems clueless 1down at half time so take off a attack minded player and bring on a defensive midfielder who gets nose bleed if he gets within 25 yards of the goal.
In past seasons I have always believed the team had enough to get out of trouble this season not so sure

At this moment in time I am not 100% convinced with Ralph but changing the manager would be akin to putting lipstick on a pig! Ings aside, the players are not good enough end of.

Simple - our players are not good enough.

If BFS is the answer, i am out.

The change worked to an extent. Their forwards no longer won every ball pumped forward - many of which we didn't even challenge for in the 1st half !! We also ran at them more and created far more chances in the 2nd half.

This was a must win for WH as well. They got in front, played dirty, took yellows for the team, dived and cheated and protested every ref decision, wasting precious time. They bullied us and out-muscled us. We should have learnt from Andy Carroll last week.

Ralf has his plans and tactics, but severely lacks the personnel with the ability to perform them. He needs to be backed in the Jan Window. He also needs a new Captain, because I've never seen a Captain give it away so much, shoot so poorly, pass it backwards so often (even more than JWP) and generally not want the ball, content to hover in no man's land !!

How did we just win 2 games? Miraculous. We ain't gonna win many more. Start playing Ings and Adams and prepare for next years Championship. Maybe we'll just stay up but even Watford looked good today.

That was the best thing he did, we were losing the midfield, Romeu got us back in the game, Redmond was terrible. What he should have done was get Armstrong on for hojlberg and get adams on sooner

The starting line up today and for the last two matches is as good as any we have tried. They are not perfect but we don’t have better. They are good enough to get us to half time still in the game and then we need to bring on Boufal in the second half to turbo charge things.

Ralph has got us to this stage where we are in with a chance of winning some games, even if we will also lose plenty. The players do seem to be playing for him.

Whenever I see an experienced manager on the other side, like Pellegrini, I assume that we are going to be outthought tactically.

Ralph makes his subs generally 10 minutes to late. I think because he is indecisive about what needs to change.

He is not the manager we thought we’d got this time last season, but very few managers tick every box. I reckon it’s currently 50:50 as to whether we drop this season. We are not bad enough for Ralph to be binned...yet.

Who would want it? Relegation looks inevitable, we’ve got a pathetically weak defence and midfield, a shambolic set up off the pitch, have To sell to buy players but have a load of sh8t no one wants, no self respecting manager would touch us.

You’re right dirk.

We have two average keepers, 5 sh8t centre backs, 2 full back who don’t want to be here, a captain who looks like a pub player. We genuinely only have 3-4 players who would get into any other side in our league. We have to sell to buy due to our agents fees and bonuses 😀, so I’m not expecting anyone to come in, even if we do stay up relegation is inevitable. Such a shambles as a club.

If we’re at tipping point with Ralph, we’ve already tipped with Gao and Kat.

Our owners are a disgrace, and have sat back and watched the descent over the past few years and done nothing but take. From Van Djk to Bednarek, Wanyama to Romeu, Mane to Armstrong. Off the pitch too, SMS looks shabby and hasn’t really had anything done to it since it was built. Everything is sloppy, and that is ultimately the owners fault.

They’re absolute greedy fukin clowns, who should be nowhere near football.
