The 2019 General Election results thread. 06:47 - Dec 12 with 30966 viewsexiledclaseboy

Fill yer boots. Exit poll at 10pm, all hope gone by five past, or mass celebrations depending on your perspective.

My prediction, Tory majority of 50 plus.

My hope, the hungest of hung parliaments leading to a second Brexit referendum in the spring to end the madness one way or another. And then another election next autumn hopefully with two different leaders at the helm.

Never been more ashamed of being British than I am right now. The lean to the Right will continue. Soon the Houses of Parliament will be set on fire and a young person of low intelligence will be framed for it, you mark my words. We have already started accepting the unacceptable. My Grandfather would turn in his grave if we hadn’t cremated him. I can accept the stupidity and cantishness of the English to some extent, but the Welsh.....sheesh! The Nazi party took power because good people either stood by or just went along with it. Facking ashamed.

Take a couple of Anadin and have a nice lie down.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/politics/proportional-representation-general-

he headlines this morning would be very different if we had proportional representation:

No overall majority for any party

The Conservatives win 75 seats fewer

The Greens go from one seat to 17

The amount of SNP seats halves

A government could only be formed if parties worked together

The Brexit Party win 13 seats

Get ready people for more austerity and cuts in public services, but no doubt the rich will get richer at the expense of ordinary people and the poor.

I fear the only way we will see a Labour or Liberal govt now is if one courts Rupert Murdoch. It's not the kind of govt that will fix our problems either, they will start at the top and finish at the top sod the rest.

I'm praying Scotland leaves and NI unites with the Republic paving the way for us in the future, English Nationalist parties do Wales no favours.

Thank you, goodnight and bollocks

Just seen this and it’s nuts. The girl in the white top is in complete denial, if Labour are ever going to come back in to power then they are going to need to completely rethink about a raft of their current policies and move back to the middle ground. If they don’t then they are going to be in the wilderness for ears to come.

Immigration was a huge driver for people voting Brexit. The main issues at this election were quite simply Brexit, Immigration and Corbyn being deeply unpopular with a huge chunk of voters.

I was talking to an A and E consultant today, she was very concerned for the future of the NHS and general healthcare afforded to the masses.
We read about people laying on trolleys, having to wait for days to see a GP, huge waiting lists etc, but unless you actually see it for yourself or are impacted by it you don’t give it much thought. I hope Boris puts some money in the NHS.

Didn't more people vote for parties committed to revoking Brexit or having a second referendum than for parties in favour of Brexit? If so, you're saying that the majority of the country favours Remain, right? Good to see you campaigning for a second referendum, I agree.

You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

By progressive do you mean left wing parties like labour, SNP and greens plus the liberal Democrats who are neither liberal or democratic.

Anyone know where I can find a break down of voter by age?

I’m not looking for who they voted for but for the turnout figure for 18 - 24 year olds

I’m not sure there’s any accurate measure, try the exit polls.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Some things are not new, 30 years ago I had to help a nurse apply a cast to my leg, as they were short staffed.

What an enjoyable thread.

It had nothing to do with the costed manifesto , this labour defeat. It was all about two cataclysmic errors :-
1. Taking no deal off the table.
2. (And the real coup de grace) Insisting on a second referendum.

That’s what lost them their traditional seats like Redcar, unless you’re seriously trying to tell me the residents of Bolsover etc would rather vote to put a lying b*stard who hides in a fridge and can’t answer any straight questions in power rather than their trusted and much loved Dennis Skinner?

If some of you right wing apologists on here believe that you’re as delusional as the average Cardiff fan.

Wow, I think you might need to get some psychiatric help.
It wasn't right wing people rioting in London the other day, it was Antifa, the so called left wing organisation.
Just as the Nazis came from the so called Socialist party in Germany.
Thugs and terrorists will use whatever vehicle that can to push their agendas.
But you don't have to worry about the future of UK politics as according Greta & AOC we will all be daed in 10 years.
