Bruges on 15:36 - Dec 10 with 687 views | this_charming_man | how does their urban conurbation compare to Ghent?

Bruges on 15:44 - Dec 10 with 677 views | grumpy | ok point taken,sorry.
Bruges on 16:21 - Dec 10 with 640 views | 130yrs_and_one_Cup | Not sure that Belgium is big enough to consider Urban areas. It does have provinces though. As cities though, Ghent is bigger than Bruges, isn't as attractive, has less annual visitors, has a bigger but less famous port, and crucially has four times less football trophies. So, the comparison with Portsmouth and Southampton is a good one.
| |
Bruges on 17:21 - Dec 10 with 605 views | Number_58 | Yeah but to the best of my knowledge Bruges don't play in the Belgian Third Division, have a much smaller support and play in an absolute dump of a stadium?
Bruges on 17:22 - Dec 10 with 604 views | this_charming_man | I wonder if the Ghent mongboard has a Bruges fan posting on it all day every day obsessively trying to prove his city and club are superior

Bruges on 14:10 - Dec 11 with 403 views | 130yrs_and_one_Cup | I doubt he would need to go on it all day, just a couple of posts in the middle of the day would suffice, especially for a club with a much superior record. I also doubt that Ghent fans think that their club is so much than better than Bruges. They undoubtedly already realise that they have a lot of catching up to do.
| |
Bruges on 14:43 - Dec 11 with 385 views | this_charming_man | I couldn't tell you for definite and I cant be arsed to check but have Ghent finished above Bruge in the Belgian league for the vast majority of the last 50 years?
| |
Bruges on 14:48 - Dec 11 with 378 views | 130yrs_and_one_Cup | It's great that if your club don't win much, you can hold on to the league superiority over the last 50 years. I can see you are bursting with pride over it. Nice.
| |
Bruges on 14:56 - Dec 11 with 370 views | this_charming_man | It's great that if your club are floundering in the lower leagues for the majority of a two generations then you hold on to trophies won before you were born. I can see your bursting with pride over it. Nice.

Bruges on 14:58 - Dec 11 with 366 views | 130yrs_and_one_Cup | Tell me about the 76 win, did you laugh, cry, wet your nappies, or not know anything about it.

Bruges on 15:04 - Dec 11 with 364 views | this_charming_man | I think I was conceived that night, but then i'm not sure what your point is as i'm not going on about it am I. I actually find it embarrassing that a lot of our fans still do to be honest.

Bruges on 15:13 - Dec 11 with 357 views | 130yrs_and_one_Cup | Good stuff, two average teams, both underachievers in reality, but the most successful in the south outside London, but one who has been successful this century. Unfortunately, the south now has two other contenders, who will eat into the local talent, and your club in particular will suffer most as Pompey now have been getting their academy into action as well. The days of your club getting the best youngsters from the entire region are over, and it will only be good coaching that will see your club rise up again. A true story.
| |
Bruges on 15:25 - Dec 11 with 349 views | this_charming_man | I'm not too concerned about Bournemouth, I think if they go down they could implode (just like we will if/when we do), but Brighton have a decent stadium, fan base and infrastructure, plus an owner who seems to actually care about the club.
| |
Bruges on 15:36 - Dec 11 with 343 views | 130yrs_and_one_Cup | Bournemouth will have a decent stadium in a couple of years, and will inevitably draw younger fans to their club. Pompey will just keep improving their academy and stadium. This has never happened to you club before ie both adjacent clubs expanding at the same time. I know this will make you laugh but Brighton, Bournemouth and Pompey all have similar conurbations, albeit Bournemouth's is an older bunch. The one advantage of having 3 half decent clubs, (and pompey) is that more footballers with pedigree will be born in the south, as less footballers will be inclined to leave the area completely.

Bruges on 15:39 - Dec 11 with 340 views | Butty101 | I think you will find 130 is bursting right now over a picture of Mason Mount. Did you know Mason Mount was born in Portsmouth and his dad, improvising with jumpers for goal posts, taught Mason everything he knew about football. The multiple trips a week to the Chelsea academy only held back Mason.
