Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 21:56 - Dec 5 with 772 views | saintmary5 | Having watched Ralph’s full interview on amazon prime I have to admit I am back on side with Ralph. Firstly I can see he is starting to realise different strokes for different folks (teams). He admitted Long was right choice for Norwich game. Also he put Romeu and Yosh on as experienced players during a period when Norwich were putting pressure on defence. This made a difference. It is also clear from his interview he acknowledge the fans getting behind players pushing them forward helped team positivity. Can’t be at most games but thank you to our fans for uplifting support and pushing our team forward.
Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 22:06 - Dec 5 with 765 views | kingslandstand1 | The crowd were good on Wednesday night with a lot of noise for quite long periods, even after the Norwich goal. Definitely a few tense periods in those last 15 mins or so but the crowd did stick with the team And dare I say it, Itchen North were at times noisier than the Northam and could start to become their noisy neighbours :-) Loved the "Northam Northam, give us a song" Could even say it confused the Norwich fans as they didn't now which direction to look to give the usual away fans abuse
Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 22:17 - Dec 5 with 759 views | PatfromPoole | The Itchen North is arising.....

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 09:47 - Dec 6 with 606 views | TygerUppercut | How much of the atmosphere was down to the fair ticket pricing for the Watford and Norwich games. I paid £20 for both tickets in their 'black Friday' deal. I think after so long focusing on making st Mary's family, female, vegan, non binary friendly perhaps the club is realising that the raucous support comes from having a hardcore base of working class LADS. We were the ones who got behind the club from league 1 and made st Mary's a fortress, not the bandwagon that jumped on board in the prem. Hopefully from now on the club will price games reasonably more often and get more character back into the ground.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 10:11 - Dec 6 with 583 views | Buggalugs | So the 20,000 or so season ticket holders that always have and continue to go week in week out are mainly bandwagon jumpers?

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 10:15 - Dec 6 with 574 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | This! The club are fine to welcome tourists, but stick them in the Chapel/Itchen corner instead, or the first rows of the Kingsland. Generally somewhere it is quieter. The sooner they realise that players respond to a GOOD atmosphere and stop trying to alienate the core of the support, the better. Maybe there IS some light at the end of the tunnel after all ... let's see.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 10:26 - Dec 6 with 574 views | SaintNick | Fact is the club put out a £399 season ticket meaning that it was £21 a game, so they have been trying to attract those that cannot afford the Premier league prices all season and in that section prices for individual games are between £20-£40 depending on the game. There are still a big hardcore from the League One days who have season tickets, the cheap tickets for the last two games did not see significant numbers of "returning" fans, perhaps 1,000 or so. The big difference was that the negativity wasn't in the stadium, on social media the Gao out brigade has been prevalent, they have been screaming without really knowing what they are demanding and for those on line it creates a toxic atmosphere that has ben brought to games. If you dared to suggest that you wanted to support the team you were accused of being a happy clapper, despite the fact the real happy clappers are the ones that slag off the club on line but do nothing physically to try and change things, perhaps unhappy clappers is a good moniker for them But the hard core have fought back, it started at Arsenal and has continued in the last two games at St Mary's a group of fans did stand up and do something to change the atmosphere and that helped greatly in the last two games. No one is saying that everything is rosy at St Mary's but we have had a section of fans who seem to be almost willing failure to happen so they can have a good moan, the last two games they haven't been there.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 11:30 - Dec 6 with 543 views | TygerUppercut | It was more like a st Mary's league 1/championship crowd who stuck behind the team. Ings said after the Watford game that it's the best atmosphere he's experienced at St Mary's As you say that was helped by certain type of fan not being there - it was more like a st Mary's league 1,championship crowd that stuck with the team.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 11:33 - Dec 6 with 541 views | TygerUppercut | Where did I say that? Do you just like looking for something to be insulted by so you can pick a fight on the Internet? When saints got back to the Premier league invariably certain type of fan jumped on the bandwagon, last couple of games they seemed less so.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 11:58 - Dec 6 with 521 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | When did it get bad? It was always better there.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 12:45 - Dec 6 with 505 views | Buggalugs | No, you seem to be the one wanting an argument. Yes there are a lot of new-age knobs that go and bring the atmosphere down with their tutting and incessant moaning nowadays and yes ticket prices are too high, no-one normal will dispute this, but let's face it; both Norwich and Watford aren't the most attractive draw to the casual fan, both were evening games, both were on tv, the weather was freezing and the team have been playing shite. All reasons why both crowds had a more hardcore feel to them....it separated the wheat from the chaff. I'm merely pointing out the fact there's a lot of decent fans that pay their money up front and go week in week out no matter what who always get behind the team too, not just a few hundred that jumped on a black Friday deal.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 12:51 - Dec 6 with 498 views | SaintNick | Ticket prices are too high in general, but Saints new pricing structure is broader than before and better than most, ticket prices are only too high when results are going badly in most peoples eyes. We should remember we are a supporter base that moaned our way to sixth in the league, accused Sadio Mane of being the worst buy since Ali Dia and whist finishing 8th and getting to a major cup final, a season that in our entire history ranked about 6th still complained they werent being entertained lol

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 12:54 - Dec 6 with 494 views | TygerUppercut | So whys the atmosphere been better last couple of games? Exactly as we both said because a certain type wasn't there, so whats the problem buggamug I rarely post here but when I do you always pipe up with a snidey comment. Irritating troll

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 12:58 - Dec 6 with 494 views | franniesTache | I've said this many times before but we have a number of nippers who've only grown up with "success" they've never been in the mud with Saints like most of us have and have some deluded idea that football is like a computer game and somehow Saints can be a champions league side playing in a 55,000 seater stadium that's full every week. The fact that there's not a shred of evidence to prove this doesn't matter to them and they then moan when we don't do well. These tend to be the same ones that are the first to ditch us when things go badly, and what you're left with, like at the Leicester game, are the more realistic fans who know our place in football and will go whatever division we're in, and back Saints no matter how bad we are. I know it's an unpopular view but i'd rather have a 25,000 seat stadium with the second lot of fans over a 35,000 seater stadium with vloggers, selfie takers and new age premier league fans every day of the week. As one of those that stood behind you at Arsenal Nick you'll know we made a f*cking racket all game, and to be honest that's partly because that's what we were brought up on, no matter the score (or how we were playing) at the Dell you'd sing your heart out. The Itchen North is a bit like that now, the danger is it's success will undo it and we'll end up with a bunch of noddies in replica kits filming everyone else instead of singing.
Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 13:35 - Dec 6 with 473 views | Buggalugs | You didn't say it was because a certain type of fan wasn't there though, that's what I said. You were slapping yourself on the back and putting the improved atmosphere down to lads like you (the loyal ones that supported us pre-Prem of course) for jumping on a black Friday deal. Shame you and your pals didn't jump on the £399 season ticket, then the atmosphere would be pumping every week. As for "buggamug", WAC.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 13:48 - Dec 6 with 461 views | PatfromPoole | I think it’s been getting better since The Committee (RIP) started a concerted campaign to get more atmosphere in there. A very good friend of mine moved his season ticket across to there recently; he noted on Wednesday that Block 1 seemed to be almost entirely male (an observation rather than a good or bad thing before the Gender Police shoot me or him....)
| |
Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 13:49 - Dec 6 with 460 views | franniesTache | Mostly male, mostly lads, very few replica shirts, and comfortably the best atmosphere in the ground. It's almost like these things are linked...
Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 14:32 - Dec 6 with 448 views | SaintNick | Your lot are bringing some pride back to the club, over the last few years we have lost that, now it is acceptable to boast of how you are not going anymore because you are not being entertained or because Gao hasnt pumped hundreds of millions in and then to claim that those who are going are happy clappers It didn't use to be like that, those who stopped going were seen as part timers not heroes, but then again back then it was the real world not virtual.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 14:59 - Dec 6 with 433 views | Buggalugs | Here here and I applaud those making an effort to improve the atmosphere and promote the resurgence of the football culture we were brought up on. It's a different world now and the under 25's of today don't know a lot different than the whiny, want want want, social media fest they've been brought up on. I know it's become common place on here to label those that have season tickets and go regularly away as no life weirdo's, but there's still a fair few decent chaps making an effort.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 15:51 - Dec 6 with 415 views | franniesTache | To be fair we're not doing anything special, more that we've managed to get a decent bunch of lads together, most of who grew up on the Milton and Bikeshed and were bored as f*ck at the direction our support had headed. The Committee stuff was a pretty blatant rip off of the original Ugly Inside too, problem is our younger generation and the post '96 lot are f*cking snowflakes without a sense of humour and got offended by it and grassed it up to the club and our FIO. As for actually singing at away games and home games, it's not hard (well to stay in tune for most of us maybe it is) but we just thought f*ck it lets have a laugh. Also the drink helps too
Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 16:49 - Dec 6 with 391 views | Buggalugs | I'm not that active on Twitter, but a lot of the Committee stuff I saw was about encouraging like-minded people to congregate in one area, so they're not scattered all around the ground or the away end and diluted by the freaks. That's what we've been lacking for a good few years now (as well as some originality in the singing repertoire's) and from what I've seen, there has been an improvement. It's unbelievable that people object to that. It's not rocket science stuff, but no-one's managed or been interested in trying to sort it out previously, so I hope the principle of it doesn't die a death.

Saints Fans Were Magnificent ! on 16:53 - Dec 6 with 384 views | SaintNick | Its the end result that counts not whether you have ripped the Ugly off, although our lawyers have just said they dont agree lol. You have led the fightback against the modern football fan at St Mary's, thats what it's all about
