Eating In W12 11:43 - Nov 15 with 9919 viewsJJB

After the Charlton game on the Dec 21st we are having a family get together, with that I need to book a table for dinner in W12

We don't mind what kind food it is as long as its decent.

Any recommendations on where's good to eat in W12 as normally I only ever go to the chippie on The South Africa Road!

Cheers in advance for any help given.

I've never eaten in W12 mate - if Ealing is an option, then Wine and Moussaka is tremendous, but the wine is pricey. Open kitchen and they use charcoal. Failing that, The Real Greek in Westthingy is a very social way of eating. I like Greek food.

Yammas.

Just about every cuisine is catered for on the Uxbridge Road stretch between Adelaide Road and onto the Green. Maybe get along to the Forest game a bit early and take a stroll along there and see what takes your fancy.

Been here a couple of times and it’s decent. Big menu and Middle Eastern should have something for everyone.

Alternatively the cafe on Bloemfontein Rd.

Sometimes eat at Bocconi Italian corner of Goldhawk/Sheperds Bush Green

the Princess Victoria on Uxbridge Road about 500 yards further on from the Conningham has a great dining room but a bit pricey.

You will need to book

Frequently eat here before games - very good value for London:

It's not in W12 though, but a quick jump on the bus of the H&C Line from Wood Lane.

"Thank you for supporting Queens Park Rangers Steep Staircase"... and I thought I'd signed up for a rollercoaster.

If you fancy pizza, big fan of Little Napoli on Uxbridge road, just opposite The Conningham.

If you like a curry, the Nepalese restaurant on Uxbridge Road (Blomfontein end) is worth a visit.

Best curry house for miles around.

The football grounds guide tells you that Loftus Road has the most food outlets and pubs within a mile radius with literally every continent represented.

Vine Leaves, on the Uxbridge Road almost opposite Loftus Road. Superb Greek and Mediterranean food, plenty of it, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Highly recommend the place (as does anyone I know who's been there, and apparently plenty of folks on TripAdvisor, Zomato, and OpenTable).

I am still Steve but no longer in Dagenham.

Wild Thyme off Uxbridge Road is fantastic. Tiny though so recommend booking.

Esarn Kheaw does good thai food. Agree on the Nepalese place too and Abu Zaad...its nothing crazy but is very reliable and the guys in there are nice. if you dont mind blazing hot chinese food, this place is great but its pretty hectic and the service isnt always friendly: https://www.tianfulondon.com/

For slightly nicer places, check out the stuff in the BBC TV Centre:
https://televisioncentre.com/food-and-drink. Havent been to that branch but the Soho branch of Kricket is fantastic.

The food's great and the portions are enormous.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

I've never been in Tian Fu but must have walked past it a hundred times. Food always looks absolutely fantastic in there.

The Pork in oil is amazing but it's pretty cliched chinese service...we have reserved a table and got there and they so obviously have given your table away ha ha. its huge though so they get you a table pretty fast. Friend of mine insists you know its good because its got round tables and thats the sign of a great chinese restaurant.

Wild Thyme looks very good and Harana. didnt know about either of these.

Im a great Thai fan.....

Esarn kheaw not sure where to start.

Several years ago was in there before an evening game , there were 3 of us and we were spending quite a bit on food and beers.

My eldest son pops in as were almost finishing, sits down and asks for a glass of tap water.

The old git running it charged 50p for that. Our bill was way over £100.

I remonstrated with him and he wouldnt budge wanting his 50p.

I then told him we would never step foot in his establishment again.

I can speak a little Thai so reiterated it again and suggested he rename his restaurant Esarn kee nee-ow.

Did I learn my lesson ...no.

Went there with my buddy the night of the Newcastle 0-6 game.

We got into the restaurant a little before 6pm. Got our starters an hour later and our mains at 7-20. Stuffed it down, ran to the ground and got stuffed again.

The Vine Leaf needs a health inspector visit, go in and really look around.

But then each to his own

Shikumen on the Green (in the Dorsett hotel). V good Chinese. The Anglesea Arms, Wingate Rd. Great gastropub. The Oak W12. Naama on the Uxbridge Rd if you want a superior kebab. Bit further afield but getting rave reviews, Sam’s riverside (in the riverside studios, Hammersmith).

My own choice: Shikumem. Close. Excellent. And you can smuggle one in The Horse and The Adelaide en route to the game.

It's good....small sharing plates and they add up quite fast so it's a bit pricey but it's definitely not your standard Indian.

Seconded Shikumen. I spec’d the water treatment at the dorsett, a great hotel too.
