Massive discussion behind where I was sat tonight about an apparent change of supplier for tonight's gala pastry covered lava.

Has there been a fall out?

Overheard a conversation in one of the kiosks. They were saying the board had had a 'pie tasting' session and had decided on the new line up and brand.

Due to unforeseen circumstance i had to buy food last night and as my default setting is ‘pie’ it came to pass that I purchased a chicken tikka one.

First one all season so nothing previous to compare against but...

Price: £3:50
Temperature: Warm to hot
Pastry: Nice and flaky
Filling: Very tasty

Didn't the Trust say that the Board was aware of disquiet from the fans and had ordered the catering company to bring back Clayton Park pies

Saying that, I’d sacrifice a steak and pepper for a Tatts meat pie any day!

I’ve said a few times that the club could do a lot worse than approach Tatts with a view to supplying pies. A meat pie from the shop is £140, so there’s certainly scope for profit, for both club and supplier. Plus, it’s a local company.

You may have sparked the club's interest at the original price.

Hmmm.

Not the sort of pie I thought the club would have in mind. A bit too crusty now.

I don’t understand why catering is not just kept in house and all profits go to the club like it used to.

Easy option is buy a load of Holland’s pies at probably 35p each bulk and flog them at 2.50 each, probably few complaints as they are ok but nothing more, pie peas and gravy for £3.50 would be ok and would probably earn the club £3 a shot, before cooking and staff costs.

Alternatively could have a local company producing a quality product, even bespoke “Rochdale Pies” as an option, charge a bit more but produce something unique. Would get some publicity and probably sell a lot to away fans wanting to try 1.

Obviously what type of pie we would have as the “Rochdale Pie” would be open for debate, but something local and different would be good. I used to make Lancashire Cheese and Onion Pie for my tea, bloody lovely!!!
