Superstition 18:55 - Sep 1 with 5830 views | mingthemerciless | Just heard on the radio that " Superstition " has been voted the best Motown song of all time. They've got to be joking. What about " Reach Out I'll Be There " or " I Heard It Through The Grapevine " ?
Superstition on 19:09 - Sep 1 with 4658 views | MoonyDale | It's all subjective Ming, personally can't stand Motown so wouldn't know what to pick.....Taste in music is a purely personal thing, prefer singer songwriters myself and there's even a Kiss fan on here....

Superstition on 19:20 - Sep 1 with 4621 views | richfoad32 | Voted by whom exactly? I recall seeing an ITV show a couple of years ago when apparently the nation's favourite was 'I Heard it Through the Grapevine'.....Next year it will probably be summat different. I couldn't really give a toss what is supposedly the best, or the greatest, or everyone's favourite, I like what I like. Don't take it too seriously.
Superstition on 19:26 - Sep 1 with 4586 views | The_Knightowl | Well ............it does make you wonder...is there really a secret world of plants ( grab the film if you can hard to get since the copyright issues) There is to many of you cryin and far too many brothers dying............. What's going on ?
Superstition on 19:28 - Sep 1 with 4576 views | soulboy | Theres 100s, if not thousands of Motown records that are better than that, which doesn't even have that typical "Motown Sound". It could have been issued on virtually any record label. Nothing surprises me any more regarding the media's or Joe Public's musical taste.
Superstition on 19:33 - Sep 1 with 4528 views | The_Knightowl | It may have had a decent rugby team...........half decent football team.......a redundant pier................Poole's pies was nice.........but a night out at the Casino was something else.............had the pleasure of working with many of the door staff many years later (and they saved my bacon more than once)
Superstition on 20:00 - Sep 1 with 4468 views | chalky_ncfc | The sweet sound of Just My Imagination by The Temptations has been my Motown favorite for as long as I can remember and Frank Wilson's Do I Love You (indeed I do) is always worth getting up to dance to plus Stevie Wonders Lately is genuinely one of the saddest songs written far superior than Superstition [Post edited 1 Sep 2019 20:02]

Superstition on 20:02 - Sep 1 with 4456 views | soulboy | It sure was something else, more like a madhouse!😄
Superstition on 20:13 - Sep 1 with 4411 views | mingthemerciless | I wouldn't want to have to choose. I may be able to pick a top ten though. " From Head To Toe " by Chris Clark and " Just A Little Missunderstanding " by The Contours are two great records you never hear today. I used to have an Elgins single with " Stay In My Lonely Arms " on the " B" side, terrific record.
Superstition on 20:22 - Sep 1 with 4366 views | soulboy | Same here, an impossible choice, The Elgins must be one of the best double siders ever. Temps (Girl) Why You Wanna Make Me Blue is one of my all time faves, along with about 2000 others.
Superstition on 06:55 - Sep 2 with 4117 views | DiddyDave | Exactly,I`ve just been getting reconnected (via You Tube) with the great Chuck Jackson, early Motown (Any Day Now,Girls Girls Girls),Eddie Holland (I Like Everything About You),Temptations (Since I Lost My Baby),Spinners (I`ll Always Love You,Truly Yours). Wonderful songs in my opinion, but then again,I`m a Motown dyed in the wool head case. A few years ago,I think it was Rolling Stone magazine said Bob Dylan`s Like A Rolling Stone was the best song ever, then somebody else said no,it was the Righteous Brothers,You`ve Lost That Lovin` Feelin`. Who cares? Superstition is indeed a great song, but I wouldn`t even say it was the best song Stevie Wonder`s ever made,he made so many fantastic songs.
Superstition on 07:34 - Sep 2 with 4085 views | EllDale | I would even go as far to say that "Superstition" doesn't remotely reflect the authentic Motown sound of the 1960's. The Marvellettes, The Velvelettes, The Vandellas, The Elgins as previously mentioned and the Supremes all produced far superior records.
Superstition on 07:48 - Sep 2 with 4062 views | mingthemerciless | Being pedantic Dave I I don't think Chuck Jackson was a Motown artist, certainly in hey day. As you say " Any Day Now " is a great record. Written by " Burt Bacharach and Hal David if my memory serves me well. One of my favourites by him is " I Keep Forgetting ". I've got a copy of Dave Marsh's " The 1000 Greatest Singles Ever Made " and I think " Grapevine " is No 1 in his opinion. [Post edited 2 Sep 2019 8:00]

Superstition on 08:58 - Sep 2 with 3994 views | DiddyDave | I had a Chuck Jackson LP on Tamla Motown, bought it late 60s,I`m sure Any Day Now was on it,but I`m open to being corrected. The LP`s called Chuck Jackson Arrives,Tamla Motown.
Superstition on 09:23 - Sep 2 with 3953 views | DiddyDave | Any Day Now was not on Chuck Jackson Arrives LP made in 1968,but there`s a clip on You Tube of him singing the song in 1965,Burt Bacharach playing the catchy opening riff. Motown maybe, maybe not,but I agree,it`s not the usual Motown sound.
Superstition on 09:43 - Sep 2 with 3936 views | kiwidale | Frankie Valli wasn't exactly typical Tamla Motown, by the way when did they drop the Tamla from Motown? Just to add to the best Motown track and I agree its very subjective I offer The Four Tops I'll be there.
| This is not the time for bickering.

Superstition on 10:51 - Sep 2 with 3891 views | EllDale | I always thought that Tamla Motown was the label that Motown operated under only in the UK?
Superstition on 11:00 - Sep 2 with 3868 views | D_Alien | My own favourite: Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up" Edit: but possibly not on the Motown label? [Post edited 2 Sep 2019 11:11]

Superstition on 11:56 - Sep 2 with 3813 views | pioneer | I can strongly recommend visit to the motown museum in Detroit. Not much else in or around the downtown area other than sporting events but the museum is not to be missed. Based in the original studios in a small house.
Superstition on 11:59 - Sep 2 with 3809 views | mingthemerciless | A great record but alas not on Motown either. He did some terrific records with The Impressions but his career was cut short by a tragic accident. The on stage lighting rig fell on him when he was playing a charity gig paralysing him ! He was confined to a wheelchair after that.
Superstition on 12:12 - Sep 2 with 3790 views | mingthemerciless | According to the Internet Dave the original " Any Day Now " was a " Wand " label recording in the US and released over here on the " Stateside " label. Of course it was re-released many times subsequently yet strangely was never a hit. I had it on a compilation album along with some Tommy Hunt and Otis Redding songs.
Superstition on 13:05 - Sep 2 with 3746 views | DiddyDave | No matter, great music and great memories growing up with Tamla Motown (well the few songs the BBC dared play as I`m sure they were very reticent at the time of playing too much "Black Music"). I just wish I attended one of the many concerts Motown performed on their 1965 (I think it was) tour of the UK. There`s a brilliant doco of that tour I saw on You Tube some time ago,Martha Reeves and Mary Wilson gave interesting and very amusing accounts of the occasion.
Superstition on 13:16 - Sep 2 with 3734 views | D_Alien | Martha Reeves & the Vandellas played Rochdale Festival a couple of years back Getting on now, obviously, but they've "still got it"

Superstition on 13:18 - Sep 2 with 3730 views | DiddyDave | Brilliant DA,sounds like you had a great night!!
Superstition on 14:32 - Sep 2 with 3683 views | mingthemerciless | I was really up for seeing Martha live D Alien but I thought she was disappointing that night to be honest. I gave it 5 or 6 numbers and then I wondered off. Her voice had gone, sad really but nothing is for ever.
Superstition on 14:12 - Sep 3 with 3487 views | DiddyDave | Can anybody remember the name of that lovely lady who had a cafe at the top of Hall Street in Whitworth? I used to go in there most mornings when we had jobs up there for Rediffusion and recall she had quite a few Motown records on the jukebox. I`ll Always Love You,Ain`t Too Proud To Beg,How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved By You),Uptight, and Jacky Wilson`s Higher And Higher,my favourite song of all time. Pint pot of tea, couple of slices of toast listening to the Detroit Spinners, then out into the rain and cold on Wallbank estate, amazing memories.
