I think you are right about the 'others' not counting. Steve Whitehall has 3 other goals in his record and they are 2 Lancashire Cup goals and 1 Rose Bowl goal which were pre season friendlies. So 129 to beat , 119 league goals. | |

Those stats show just how good Reg Jenkins was not that it would prove the better player can anybody compare Jenkins goals v appearances to Henderson's, that would be a telling statistic. At the end of the Day I was lucky to watch Big Reg and he was a joy to watch whereas you get to watch Henderson who is also a joy to watch.. | |

Those of us who were lucky enough to see Big Reg in his prime can vouch for what a great goal scorer he was. Good luck to Henderson if he can break the record, it'll speak volumes for his ability.
It puts me in the mind of Fred Trueman's comment when he became the first player to take 300 Test Match wickets. The interviewer asked him if he thought somebody else would beat his record in the future ?

I would presume " others " for Reg would be Lancashire Senior Cup games which plenty of Lancashire clubs competed for and imo, for what its worth, was a far better trophy than todays tin pot EFL trophy. | | | |
