The Hitcher was a cracking little film.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain

Kind of agree regards Blade Runner & Hitcher, but struggling to think of 3 more films he did (without Wiki/Google). That’s probably my failing though.....

He did indeed write that part himself. He had a great relationship with Director Scott and asked if he could do some of his own stuff. Asked permission and Scott said yes and then liked it so much, he kept it in.

However, not all actors had such a relationship to do that. Ford allegedly hated Scott and this is the reason the sequel took so, long to be made. Onset it was very frosty between them. It is also why often Ford would never talk about the film at all. After Scott said he "needed to learn how to molly coldly some actors to get the best from them". Ford hates his performance in the film, ironically most critics love Fords performance.

Then we had Sean Young, who is alleged to have gone all weird from playing Rachel and started in private idolising herself as being Rachel. Continuing to dress and look like her in private, with pictures of Rachel all over the place.

Daryl Hanna was asked why the film did not resonate at the time and she said it as too far ahead of its time and in time people got it. If you may recall it was released in 1982 and that year was ET and a load of other great films. So, it got lost in the mire of that. Only later did flim academics and fans of sci-fi pushed the film forward. It still stands the test of time as well.

As Rutger said "Blade Runner needs no explanation. It just [is]. All of the best. There is nothing like it. To be part of a real masterpiece which changed the world's thinking. It's awesome."

And as the author, Phillip K Dick said of his performance of Roy Batty the lead replicant "the perfect Batty — cold, Aryan, flawless".

The film is iconic and Rutger was a key part of that.
Nuff said.

zzzzzzzzzz

RIP Rutger.

Hitcher, was a great film!

Something so menacing about him in that - gave me the willies alright.
