Sodexo scores exclusive catering deal at Swansea City Football Club
Posted by: Sarah OBeirne in Business, catering, Contract wins and partnerships

Sodexo has been awarded an eight-year catering deal at the Liberty Stadium, home of Swansea City Football Club and professional rugby union team, The Ospreys. The deal, which commences in June 2019, will see Sodexo providing catering on event days throughout the stadium in all lounges and general admission areas. As part of the agreement, Sodexo will invest in new digital screens and a stadium wide EPOS system to support speed of service in the public areas alongside improved audio-visual facilities in the lounges and new local food offers.

A new hospitality experience will be launched in 2020 alongside enhanced general admission offers and a further facility investment in a new bar area. Sodexo has also won the contract for non-match day sales to help drive additional revenue for the stadium.

Commenting on the contract award, Chris Bray, CEO Sports & Leisure Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “This new partnership with Swansea City Football Club will see Sodexo bring its world-leading expertise in catering and venue and event management to South Wales. Working with Swansea City gives us a great opportunity to deliver a fantastic experience for spectators and host a wide range of conferences and events on non-matchdays.
“At our other stadiums we have strong relationships with the local community, and the Liberty Stadium will be no exception. We look forward to bringing fresh, innovative, responsibly-sourced local produce to stadium visitors.”

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

What's an EPOS system? Sorry if a dull question.

Not a dull question. Short answer: EPOS stands for Electronic Point of Sale. An EPOS system takes the place of a traditional till system. It handles all of your transactions. That means all the cash and card payments you take go through your EPOS system.

"They prepare menus and food for the directors and for the boardroom with a brief to showcase both the best of British and local produce each matchday."

Trebles all round for the boys on the board....still Burger and Chips for the masses...

What's wrong with 3/4 pint of lukewarm Carling piss poured 20 minutes before half time?

No doubt they will have good intentions from the off but I won't be at all surprised if it ends up as same expensive sh!t under a different name.

I bought it for years but stopped mid season

£4.50 is a rip off.

It's a football stadium mun.

If you want good grub and alcohol, go elsewhere innit.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

It's vile. Although the funniest thing about our catering is how they always seem completely unprepared and surprised to get lots of customers at half time.

It's bloody awful stuff, had to buy bottles before the end of last season as it was off at the pump!!

God knows the last time the lines were cleaned.

And yes £4.50 is extortion pure and simple

Yet others are annoyed to get served beer that has been pre-poured!

The new cashless system at Spurs speeds things up tremendously.
No fumbling around for cash, waiting for change and zero chance of staff fiddling the money or mixing up the change.
Much, much faster.
By programmes, etc all through cashless.
It's the way forward

Not often I praise the Basseys but must admit there catering seemed far better than ours.

Also the simple pen style they use so you are not trying to work out who looks the quickest server before deciding which queue to join (I always get it wrong)

Makes no difference to me who does the catering.
Never bought food/drink at the Lib, never will.

What about the people who don't have bank accounts?

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Given the cheapest season ticket at Spurs, I don't think those without bank accounts are the target demographic.

I'd imagine it's like most stores. Can pay by cash, can make cashless payments.

You can get a card like a 'credit card' that you preload . Eg put £20 on it and you have £20 to spend.

I know someone who is paranoid of online security and if they buy something from Amazon or wherever for £50 , they put £50 on the card in the post office and use that to pay.

That way if someone steals the card number etc they cannot go mad and rack up a huge bill for you!
