Oystermouth castle, fingered the school bike there as an excited 12yo in the lunch hour.
No, she wasn't a dinner lady.

Lots of great Castles in Wales, not to far away are Kidwelly and Llanstephan, but my favourite Welsh Castle is Castell Carreg Cennen. It’s a great place to visit perched on top of the steep hill with the cliff on one side.

Never been to Carcassone, but I do fancy going there one day. Er indoors is not a fan of France or the French.

You’re not kidding! Lovely guy too. His sister worked with my missus.

Saw him with Laurence’s big band with some stellar horn players (Nigel Hitchcock etc.) and he even stood out in that company. Fabulous player.

A trip to North Wales last year and obligatory Cadw membership means forced the daughter to see pretty much every castle on the list in the last 12 months. She loved it. Lots mentioned of course, but there was something about Criccieth that did it for me, not much left there now of course even in comparison to others. Carreg Cennen is outstanding too. Very impressed with the work Cadw done at Harlech too.

The first time I visited Manorbier, it was a crisp autumn morning..nobody around..it was almost as if time stood still....it was pretty magical tbh.

Without a mention is Beaumaris, a concentric castle within a concentric castle...pretty impressive tbf.

However, I have two cracking paintings of Castell Carreg Cennen on my lounge wall.

Builth Castle

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Can't beat a Motte and Bailey Castle. Saw Arundel Castle, in the distance, on the way to Brighton last ime we played them away. Looked an impressive, and still intact, Motte and Bailey. Intend going back for a closer look.

Builth Castle is just how Loyal likes them.
A bit of a mound surrounded by some gorse.

The subject of Motte and Bailey is real throwback to my GCSE geography days.

You simply can’t top the Tower of London just for sheer history, from William the conqueror all the way through to the Nazis with so many high profile historical figures entering its gates, some gruesome bloody deaths, a little bit of genocide, marvellous.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

This one takes some beating - Castel Sant Angelo in Rome. Lucky enough to be there once when they’d opened the Passetto (the secret passage from the castle to the Vatican). Fascinating.

Made my night. Sitting in a Premier Inn after a couple of Peronis, what a way to relax and enjoy one of the greatest. 👏
Thank you sir..
