Shaun Harvey will leave his role as chief executive of the English Football League at the end of the season.
Harvey, 48, took over as CEO in 2013 and has been involved in football for 25 consecutive years.
Harvey said he was proud of what he has achieved "in what have not always been easy circumstances".
"I am happy to remain as CEO until after the play-offs, to conclude a number of outstanding matters that we are currently dealing with," he added.
"The time is right for the EFL to move in a different direction having concluded a number of commercial contracts that leave the League in a stable position."
Debbie Jevans, interim chair of the EFL said: "The EFL would like to thank Shaun for all he has delivered. The EFL is in a strong position with a growing fan base throughout the world and Shaun deserves a lot of credit for this." | | | |  |

Clubs would just adjust. Rather than spunking a fortune on Internationals from all over the world and clubs the size of Fulham and Bournemouth being able to outbid most of the continent's biggest clubs, all that presumably would then happen would be a massive deflation in wages and clubs signing more domestic players on more sensible salaries.
If the biggest four or five clubs fu cked-off, there are plenty of big clubs left behind to ensure it was still a major domestic league. I think it would be great for English football. I might feel differently if I was an Evertonian and due to miss the derby, but against that, clubs like Everton would have a chance of winning the league again, so that would probably compensate. | |

Nearly all the clubs in The National League (Conference) are full time, plus at least one below that level.
Going part time in the EFL isn't going to happen.
