My simplistic interpretation of this having viewed several of the documents filed at CH is that the Football Club made interest free loans of £1.2M to JTAK Ltd to enable the production of the JTAK film on the basis that this debt would be repaid from future film rights/sales.
The most recent Accounts filed for the year ended 28 Feb 2018 reveal that the debt owed to the Football Club still stands at £801,660. [Post edited 8 Feb 2019 5:00]

On face value it would appear that the club itself paid for the commercial that the original owners used to sell it and personally enrich themselves. Of course, the club was never reimbursed from these massive profits for the losses made on the advertisement that the BBC could probably have knocked together for 5% of the cost.
