Hoedt at it again.! on 11:14 - Jan 29 with 1112 viewsCloudy

Bit of a double edged sword that one. If he starts putting in good performances, enough for them to want to buy him, then surely we would want him back, no?

The editor of celts vigos fans site el interior feo put an article on their page yesterday laying the blame solely at the feet of the celta vigo fans for his poor performance and sending off.

He was very unlucky to get sent off in fairness. But no, he shouldn’t come back. He’s gash.

Quite right too. He wasn't their best defender but he definitely wasn't their worst either.

So many similarities to his disastrous spell in the PL, 'fans to blame, and not the worst' are familiar comments heard when he played for us!
Guess he's just very unlucky to be coached and played by different managers, then play terrible matches that are not his fault!

Those who watched him in our shirt will never forget how teams targeted his weakness and passed him with ease!

Good luck to him in Spain, hope he gets his act together in less pressured football and we make the sale!

Why not tell me the terrible matches he played and then list the good ones , Ill start off with Swansea away when he had to dig in and keep a clean sheet to ensure we stayed up.

2 straight off top of my head Bournemouth away - shocking, Fulham away this year, poor performances at home this year....several but depends if you are looking at without rose tinted glasses and backed yourself in a corner with your support of him.
Good luck to him hope he has a blinder there and we get a good transfer fee we need better.

Nick - why do I need to explain that he was not good, perhaps you should tell Ralph that what he saw on the training pitches was not relevant.
He was dreadful from the start of this season, and if you feel the need to tell us he saved our season at Swansea, well that’s not what I saw! Swansea played a terrible match and even so everyone was a defender at times!

Guess we must agree to disagree, respect your views but am struggling to find many others that thought we should risk losing more points by picking him!

I genuinely dont know anyone else who rates him. Interesting that the game against swansea was chosen as one where he supposedly looked good. A team who were the lowest scorers in the league and who when we played them were on a terrible run and had only scored twice in their previous 7 games.

How he did against anyone who wasnt sh.t is probably a bettet yardstick.

All I am trying to do here is add some balance, if you are prepared to slag him off and say that he has been terrible and never had a good game then all I am doing is pointing out that not everything Hoedt did was cr*p,

Perhaps he wasn't good from the start of this season but then again those playing next to him were just as bad if not worse, I would say that even Van Dijk would have struggled to look good, Hoedt was certainly better than Vestergaard right up to the time he was dropped.

I didnt say he saved our season, I said he stepped up to the plate and it wasnt just Swansea, it was Everton away, Bournemouth at home and even Leicester away, in those 4 games Hoedt was the only central defender to play in all of them.

You contradict yourself in regard to the Swansea game, if Swansea were so terrible why did everyone need to be a defender, they lacked direction but they pumped the ball forward and the defence coped including Hoedt, if you cant even give him credit for that and his other good games then how am I supposed to respect your opinion on him.

I agree that Hoedt was not grat this season, but he was no worse than the others, after his axing the defence continued to let in as many goals as before and all were mistakes.

I am not arguing with Ralph Hasenhuttl, ultimately he has to make his choices and I respect that, I suspect though that Hoedt's departure is not so much his performances as after all Ralph said the slate was wiped clean and everyone would get a chance to play, I think that Hoedt told him he wanted to go

To be correct I never said everything he did was crap, it's just that when he was bad it was game changing! I have no appetite to write a thesis on a simple difference of opinion, he did contribute at Swansea with various players coming in behind to cover the errors. I still respect your views regardless of your respect for mine!

Suspect you are right stating he wanted to go, any player that wanted to play would prefer a loan to not getting picked. Ralph was not going to expose the team by picking him, even allowing a fresh start he was not seeing enough, if any improvement.

Our fans are rotten to the core . On this day in history we hounded out poor Danny Fox according to this article

In fairness i actually agreed with Nick on that. Fox wasnt a good premier league full back, but he wasnt signed to be one. He was brought in during our championship season where most people were surprised how well we did. Fox and richardson down the right were integral to that with nearly 30 assists betweem them that season.

The difference between fox and hoedt is that Fox should have been given a bit more slack, he wasnt up to it jn the premier league and i kind of got the impression he knew it too, whereas Hoedt clearly overestimates his ability. Also fox being part of our promtion team should be treated with a lot more affection and fondly remembered like sharp, hammond chaplow, none of them premier league players but none of them shown up like Fox was as being out of their depth. Hoedt meanwhile had done nothing to endeer himself to fans.

Guly was one more player that got a disgraceful amount of stick. Sums up the modern freak that goes nowadays. 9 or 10 have good games yet they walk away moaning about the one player that might’ve had a bad game.
