Agreed, I'd say that given the number of people connected with football who use all sorts of planes (many clubs fly within England don't they to away games then I'd say statistically you'll get an event such as this at some point or another.

Not really. Salah (sp?) wanted to get back to Nantes to say goodbye to his mates/pick up some stuff and come back a couple of days later. Airline flights all went via LHR, CDG, etc so would have been a right ballache what with getting to and from Cardiff and Nantes at either end.
The agent tries a private conpany he's used before to make it all much easier. They don't get the pilot and plane they normally get but get a substitute. They preseume it's OK as it's the same company.
Maybe the subsitute plane was a bit old, maybe the pilot was in fact unlicensed but what the authorities are really interested in is whether a small single engined plane should be taking off at night in really bad weather conditions and attempting to fly across a serious expanse of water. | |
