I have heard indirectly from a source very close to the club (and I am not saying any more about that so don't ask) that both Jenkins and Dineen were trying very hard to get Brendan back and had been talking to him for quite some time but they were told unequivocally that now the club had American owners, they were going to appoint a high-profile American coach so that they could raise the club's profile in the USA as an integral part of their march towards the next level.
Generally people don't quit their job just because they don't get things entirely their own way. Especially if they're getting paid handsomely and don't have nearly as much skin in the game as they used to before cashing out.
Since Levein and Kaplan bought the whole "well-run club" Jack to a King narrative it's likely they'd take the concerns of Jenkins and Dineen more seriously than someone new they'd have to bring in to replace them, but in my experience when the money men have their hearts set on something no mere employee can fight the tide.
So yes on both counts then? To reiterate I'm not being sarcastic, it just means the whole mess would be a lot more palatable if the truth was out there.
Well run club via JTAK? I thought Kaplan and co were business people, yet they bought a club on the basis of a Disney film and avoided the elephant in the room of the appalling state of the operating costs then???!!
Judas & Co chose the cheap option (yet again) with Guidolin rather than appoint Brendan and we’ve had to suffer Big Nose’s nauseating comments about this being his ‘biggest regret’ ever since ....🤮🤮🤮
Perception at the time of the sale was that we were a pretty sustainable PL outfit on the footballing side, with significant room to grow in terms of sponsorships and the commercial department, ideal for some savvy American franchise moguls to swoop in and fine tune a working machine.
Operating costs always cut closer to the edge than at most of PL clubs (largely due to our poor/non-existent commercial performance) but we weren't paying almost £100m in wages until after they were in control.
And a similar debacle occurred with the Bielsa ‘appointment’ and that infamous ‘Hola’ post back in 2015....Judas & Ugly went to Argentina but wouldn’t put up the cash (yet again) .......everything has to be ‘on the cheap’ as we all know so well so he can continue ‘earning’ (I use that word VERY loosely I would say screwing is more appropriate personally) his obscene Salary as a Championsip Club ‘Chairman’ (aka his better known persona as a failed Roofing Contractor).
Director of football my arse he couldn’t direct the traffic on the Kingsway even now when it’s one lane both ways.
