Jordan Cousins 14:21 - Jan 5 with 2929 viewsSuperhoop83

My son has worked out (so blame him if he's wrong!) that Jordan Cousins has started 11 league matches this season and that in those matches we have won 20 points, the only loss being the West Brom disaster. That means that we have won 19 points from the other 15 matches.

Personally, I wouldn't start him if we had a full squad available but maybe Cousins is a better, or at least a more useful, player than some of us think? I also wonder if he might be even more useful if/when he has a proper run of games.

Just putting it out there on this boring international weekend...

I don't think many of us think he's bad per se. We haven't even seen enough to judge him really. Just not necessarily the most comfortable on the ball. It's more that i never like two out and out defensive midfielders in a side. Him and Scowen together are never going to be the most creative partnership.

Nothing really against Cousins, though. To me, he looks the best athlete in the squad. If we didn't have Darnell, i'd be plugging for Cousins as being able to turn into an excellent fullback.

He's certainly improving over the last few months.
Thought he was our best outfield player at Villa.
He had a good game against Forest too.

Damn, Cousins deserved a goal for that superb effort, bloody tragedy that didn't go in. Same goes for Luke's beautiful free kick.

What a marvellous it would have been then.

Unfortunately, of the home games I've been to recently, he seems to be a lot of people's scapegoat.

When he lost the ball, or didn't do what the crowd thought he should do, it was far more obviously jeered than any other player making an error.

I rate the guy and empathise with his situation; came here and got very badly injured and is now getting confidence back.

He's been decent recently and still working to improve. At times yesterday he was pressing whilst Scowen was deeper and getting space to start attacks. A developing understanding and doing a good job in trying to stake a claim to places in the absence of Cameron and Luongo.

Shame to hear that. We all know it makes a player play much worse as well. Such a good season, i hate to hear about our players getting a hard time from our own fans. I suppose it's just the way it is; we've always got a scapegoat or two.

He's another one who couldn't really have had much worse luck since he's been with us yet i'd never for a moment question his attitude. Personally, i think his obvious athleticism and his versatility plus said attitude make him an excellent squad member.

Agreed but perhaps a good example of benefits coming from financial discipline - a few years ago he would have been given up on and we would have looked to get another one in in January. Now the player gets more than one chance and is coached to improve- Goss perhaps being the exception,

One of the reasons I hate watching football on TV, is you have to listen to the guys commentating(yes I know you can turn volume down, but then I cant hear all the great chants from the fans)..Going to watch football is great, but you still gets some people who know jack shit about QPR let alone footy.
IMO - Cousins was a good player at Charlton, struggled when he first got here.Got played out of position. I was told he was a box to box no nonsense midfielder. Since coming back from latest injury, which has also not helped, he has been much more effective. Closing down players, tackling, getting ball and giving to team mates, being a nuisance. Needs to work on his passing a bit more. You need players like these....so players like Eze, doesn't have to. ( Don't think Stan ever made a tackle ?)
