He’s not a genius. He’s managed 9 games for the Netherlands and currently has a lower win ratio than when he was at Saints. I get that you’re excited and that’s fair enough given how poor the Ditch team has been in recent years but to call him a genius just devalues the word. Brian Clough was a genius, Koeman is not. Koeman did well in his first season at Everton and then struggled in the second season after a rubbish run of fixtures that included playing all of the top sides. Had he stayed on, Everton would still have finished where they did, perhaps slightly higher pushing Burnley for seventh.
However, it was starting to get obvious that he wasn't a long term manager, he didn't really give that much of a toss and that he wasn't ananager to stay for 5-6 years that Everton desperately need.
I love how Les Reed always gets the blame for Koeman leaving Saints, Koeman would never have stayed at Saints for longer than his three contracted years. He came to Saints to put himself in the shop window and Everton for more money and a faster track to a club like Barca, but it didn't quite work out. He's a bit of a dick to be honest. | | | |
