All the time & money spent on building the academy infrastructure seems like time & Money well spent.....some fantastic prospects coming through to the first team now, with Dan James being the latest. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

No it’s not. The centre of excellence and academy shared the same goal and that is to produce players for SCFC......a bit of a coincidence. I wonder why ?

The academy is a different thing to the CoE, the academy is a new set up that cost/costs millions and had to conform to EPL rules to get status one designation.
You call it splitting hairs but (taking inspiration from your shop analogy) is a ferrari pretty much the same thing if it is an 812, a GTC4 or a formula one car?

The CoE was pretty good but it didn't have things the academy has, sort of like your local shop expanding massively. The academy offers much more than the old CoE did, the facilities now are incomparable to the CoE.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

The centre of excellence trained at Llandarcy, Ashleigh rd AstroTurf, the LC gym, and played home games at the Elba.

Im sure the youth system that produced the likes of Robbie James and Dean Saunders had the goal of producing players for SCFC too.

But it wasn't an academy that had received investment was it?

And it was the new academy and facilities that the buffoon OP was referring to. He messed up thinking Davies was a part of this but instead of holding his hands up he's too stubborn and is now trying to say that he was referring to the system and facilities that proceeded the current one.

The current academy is only in place because the club spent millions on the infrastructure.
When Davies broke into the first team, that first team trained on a public field.
So back then I would have been impossible to gain the academy status the club has now, but don’t fool yourself into thinking that the people behind the centre of excellence and academy were not the same people ie ( the board ).
