No loans coming in? 14:04 - Aug 30 with 34266 views | Swansea93 | Potters press conference l I counted today that our squad is about 27 or 28 players so from a numbers perspective I think we are okay. Injuries can affect you at any level and make starting XI different. I don’t see it is as light as you think. We will need a bit of luck we are okay numbers wise If no-one else comes in, is it finances or football? “It’s a bit of both, I would count around 27 or 28 players who have indicated they want to be here. That’s a lot of players and I have to take them down to 11 and there will be guys who will still be disappointed not to make the 18. I had a player in Sweden where I had a young player who was in Fourth Division in Sweden and went on to play against Arsenal in Europa League. It’s about development.” [Post edited 30 Aug 2018 14:12]

No loans coming in? on 22:00 - Aug 30 with 2358 views | Flashberryjack | My expectations were lower than mid table table, now I fear we might be dragged into a relegation battle should we have a couple of injuries, plus if offers come in for any of our players in the next window, they will be gone, that's for sure. For a club that's been in the PL for 7 seasons, a club run by an American hedge fund that's only interest is making a profit, I'd call that a club in trouble. But hey! what do I know ?

No loans coming in? on 22:03 - Aug 30 with 2339 views | Jango | Leeds are top and we played them off the park. We had our best player and captain in the middle of the park against Leeds and not against Birmingham.
No loans coming in? on 22:03 - Aug 30 with 2338 views | magicdaps10 | They didn't pkay us off the park, bullied us off the park.....yes. That is the issue for me, we might have some talented, gifted young footballers in the squad but we lack that muscle and possibly experience in certain areas, we need these players to compliment our younger players, who at the same time are very lightweight. Dm and a centre half please. If we keep Bony then I think we can get away up top this season with McBurnie aswell.

No loans coming in? on 22:04 - Aug 30 with 2314 views | Jack11 | Potter came in and has said he only wants players who want to be here. We are talking about a guy who has a degree in leadership - he knows what’s needed to succeed in a group setting and harmony is vital. So when the volume of players left I honestly think that’s with his blessing and it’s the right thing to have happened. In terms of players coming in, I think Potter has rightly looked at our expensively assembled academy and their success and has decided the young players there should have a shot. It creates a positive environment when there’s clear succession and progression. Are we light on numbers, not really. Perhaps a striker but realistically who? A young pl striker might not get game time. No pl club will sanction that. A senior striker available for loan is only going to hamper McBurnie’s development.
No loans coming in? on 22:09 - Aug 30 with 2259 views | angryjack | That's what I'm trying to say without a squad of better quality we will have more days like Birmingham than Leeds because there no qaulty in depth if fer gets injured we back to square one but it's not just about him we need quality cover up front plus cm thats what this thread is about .... without signing s we will struggle over a season [Post edited 30 Aug 2018 22:11]

No loans coming in? on 22:14 - Aug 30 with 2211 views | TheResurrection | Well I'll be completely honest with you as I am not a liar. I have never ever spoken to Jenkins in my life, or Martin Morgan and to Dineen the once ever. No one is "feeding" me any info. I never put anything on here that anyone has told me to or hinted at. I have a good mate who knows someone (don't we all though?!) where I get some info, but that's it. I would love to get back to being able to criticise Jenkins and co, but for me, and straight up, I feel the whole SCFC situation needs some re-balancing and what's happening with the fans isn't healthy for the future of our club. The mood needs to lift and we need to properly get behind a young manager with talented youngsters and we can be successful again. And I totally agree with Dr Winston, it does feel like we maybe missing a golden opportunity to have a real crack at promotion again, but this could be very much because the Club and it's financials need protecting just now.

No loans coming in? on 22:19 - Aug 30 with 2160 views | TheResurrection | Well it's not though is it. You talk of the Championship being so tough and gruelling but are now saying teams are crap, which one is it? They had a good night because Monk got them fired up and they saw they could bully us in front of 20k of their own fans. They did. But we still tried and tried to play our football game and were a lot better in the second half. The thing is see Jon, I'm looking for positives in everything and I want the Swans to kick on again like nothing else. You seem to want to look for any negative you can find. There are a lot of positives, even this far into the season. We can build on these.

No loans coming in? on 07:56 - Aug 31 with 1682 views | angryjack | Thing is Chris we all want the swans to do well,I'm not looking for negatives I'm looking at facts,,why can't we spend a bit of money to improve and help what we got, because IMO this squad ain't good enough,,if you think it is with no experienced cover in a few positions well there being positive and being delusional,,even goug Sharpe in comparison in 1990 went and spent 200.000 on three players which was hell of a lot of money back then in the bottom division, zsurely we can open the cheque book
No loans coming in? on 07:59 - Aug 31 with 1667 views | dobjack2 | For most of the others there are viable substitutes. For mcburnie none at present. Also playing a lone striker is a physically demanding role. At the moment we are looking ahead from different perspectives: yours a glass half full, mine half empty. No problem with that. We’ll have a much better idea of where we stand after the Ipswich home game. I just hope that we are able to deal with the physical side of the division and don’t pick up too many injuries etc.
No loans coming in? on 08:09 - Aug 31 with 1632 views | waynekerr55 | RE - the financials, if it is true that only Dineen is 'washing his own face' so to speak, why haven't Pearlman et al. taken a pay cut? That's a joke, if true of course

No loans coming in? on 08:10 - Aug 31 with 1627 views | trinityann | If we keep Bony, we are really only lacking a defensive midfielder and if we had signed Ryan Woods, there we be a lot more optimism about the place. So hopefully today we can ship out Narsingh, Dyer and Routledge and get a surprise central midfielder in.
No loans coming in? on 08:14 - Aug 31 with 1601 views | angryjack | You mean keep bony who has not had a run of games for 4years so what happens when he breaks down again after one or two games
No loans coming in? on 08:37 - Aug 31 with 1551 views | Jango | If we shell out the funds for a striker that’s good enough, and it’s not that easy, then Bony stays and gets fit he’ll be first choice and we’re wasting money we don’t have. You can’t have 3 good players for each position in case of injury, not at this level. We have CBR and Asoro that can play there also.
No loans coming in? on 08:54 - Aug 31 with 1502 views | angryjack | It's not in case of injury, it's bonynis finished,no doubt he will break down again sooner we rid and yet a replacement the better
No loans coming in? on 09:00 - Aug 31 with 1486 views | TheResurrection | Can Carter-Vickers also play DM? From the clips I saw I'd say he could.
| |
No loans coming in? on 09:06 - Aug 31 with 1465 views | angryjack | Ye let's sign a centre half and put him in midfield why don't we just go and sign a midfielder that would make sense, perhaps he can go in goal when Erwin gets injured as well
No loans coming in? on 09:06 - Aug 31 with 1465 views | thornabyswan | Spurs fans said he can't but would not be surprised if Potter gives it a go.
| |
No loans coming in? on 09:21 - Aug 31 with 1418 views | MrSwerve | That's the problem though isn't it, we're so desperate for some depth that we need to resort to playing players out of position. Young players too, who lack in experience.
| |
No loans coming in? on 09:23 - Aug 31 with 1410 views | Jango | If we get rid then we’d definitely need a replacement. If not though can we realistically afford to pay another wage on top of bony and Mcburnie when only one is gonna be playing most of the time and we have other alternatives if needed.
No loans coming in? on 09:25 - Aug 31 with 1401 views | Jango | Andy king set to leave Leicester on loan today. I’d certainly take him back here this season.
No loans coming in? on 09:28 - Aug 31 with 1387 views | thornabyswan | Yes but he was another one that couldn't wait to jump ship as soon as we were down. Was all for staying when it looked like we may stay up.
| |
No loans coming in? on 09:30 - Aug 31 with 1378 views | Jango | Well to be fair, neither he or the club commited long term so he was well within his rights to keep his options open.
No loans coming in? on 09:40 - Aug 31 with 1329 views | thornabyswan | Yes fair comment I would put him.in the same bracket as Clucas a Championship quality player earning a PL wage. But yes an upgrade on what we have.
