Agree TCM. Romeu was a bit off form last season but he more or less admitted it once MP left. Romeu can be a good committed player, but I wish he would cut out his silly fouls in dangerous areas, which are often costly. I like him as a player though. | | | |

I was quite impressed with Armstrong last night, but thought Romeu was a bit off last night though
Afraid Steven Davis is not on my first team sheet either now. Thought he was way off colour last night

Surprised Armstrong and Davis played in the same line up last night, as I thought Armstrong would be the one to replace Davis.
Armstrong was out to impress and perhaps tried a little too hard at times, but plenty of drive and skill, plus seemed willing to go forward and beat players. Should hopefully turn out good.
As for Davis, he was slow, slowed our play down, rarely passed forward and should have been taken off before half time. Thought someone on here said he was going back to Rangers, so he can go on last night's showing. Squad player at best and we have many other options in his position. [Post edited 2 Aug 2018 18:46]

The only negatives last night for me were Long and Davis who didn’t offer much and were rightly taken off.Davis has been great for Saints but I feel it’s time for him to move on. Armstrong was very impressive and I can see him scoring a few for us which is something we have lacked for a while a goal scoring midfielder. He scored 17 from midfield one season for Celtic. | |

Agreed, he's been a great signing for us but no place for sentiment unfortunately.
Same with long, I like him but he's never been a goalscorer. His main attributes are pace and workrate, he'll be 32 this season and those things start dropping off quickly at that age. I know we were trying to move him out but imagine his wages put him out of reach of most clubs he would be good enough for. | |

it's a tough call as we have 6 or 7 midfielders to choose from a.t.m.
It takes time to develop a good winning partnership, especially with 3 players involved but I expect MH to ring the changes until he gets its right.
It looks as though Armstrong is the first name of the team sheet , now it's upto the others to compete for the remaining MF spots. | | | |
