With these two young keepers signed up for 3-4 years, it looks as if we have given up hope of him recovering the form he had 2 seasons ago.
Hughes certainly wants keepers who command their area, these two are very similar in style. At first McCarthy may have the edge, but once Angus gets the No1 spot, he'll be hard to shift. | |

Pat lifted it from another forum where I had posted it, I can’t let you have me all to yourself can I! He’s linked his thread in the second post now.
Also check my thread from yesterday, Gennaro can vouch that I told him about it months ago.
We started speaking to him months ago whilst he was at Norwich on loan so I’m a little surprised pat didn’t know about it then, especially as he knows Brian, his dad and his son works at Norwich as a coach. [Post edited 10 Jul 2018 8:32]

This seems an odd signing to me.
We have Forster who I would have thought would be working hard to get his place back (or looking to leave).
We gave McCarthy a very good contract no doubt elevating him to somewhere near Forsters deal. Then a few months later we pay 15 million for another keeper?
OK so it must mean Forster is off. Fair enough. And It's great that we are prepared to spend the money but 15 million for a back up keeper?!? Have we promised him first team appearances cos it seems like a huge amount for a back up and I can't see McCarthy being happy if he gets dropped now. | | | |
