Sterling. on 23:14 - Jul 3 with 3300 views | Ron11 | I agree too. So why does Southgate persist with playing him? Vardy is a much better player. That should have been done and dusted after 90 minutes.
Sterling. on 23:24 - Jul 3 with 3285 views | kingslandstand1 | That about sums him up in an England shirt, but you can't deny he has performed for City
Sterling. on 23:30 - Jul 3 with 3280 views | TheMoog | Let me fix the OP: He’s fookin shite.
| |
Sterling. on 05:50 - Jul 4 with 3188 views | patred | He is also keeping Rashford out of the side
| |
Sterling. on 06:40 - Jul 4 with 3149 views | saint22 | Agreed No end product Rashford has to start against Sweden Read the same for Alli overrated lightweight Loftus Cheek to start
Sterling. on 06:40 - Jul 4 with 3150 views | Rustyhelmet | I'm sure Blue will appear soon spouting some crap about how Sterling has had a good season at their place, but f*ck me i've NEVER been more infuriated with a player over a match. He doesn't even know how to utilise his pace, just runs aimlessly down channels and on the very odd occasion he manages (god knows how) to get ball under control my 11 year old boy cross better than him! Clear the first defender you tool! However, to be slightly fair, i did think Ali was awful to, he again looked injured for most of the game. Henderson worries me - he regresses back to the L'Pool player of a couple of seasons ago where everything is sideways and backwards.
Sterling. on 07:13 - Jul 4 with 3133 views | kingslandstand1 | Henderson nearly cost us that night of joy. His pen was so predictable as to where it was going that he owes their guy who hit the bar (and Pickford!) a def drink or 3! Just watch what Kane does when taking a penalty - belt it!!
Sterling. on 08:13 - Jul 4 with 3074 views | Kemp_Not_Martin | Sterling flatters to deceive at City as he is supplied and surrounded by superb players. But he himself has limited abilities. I did not know Ali was playing until the 43rd minute. Another waste of space. Loftus cheek and Rashford to start in place of these two on Saturday. Will Southgate fail in the same way all England managers before him failed......by persisting to pick players on promise and not on form?
| |
Sterling. on 08:50 - Jul 4 with 3050 views | CCSFC | Agree with both these... Rashford and Loftus-Cheek over Sterling & Alli Cant knock the rest of the team though, although Dier was poor getting up to speed when he came on but i'll let him off as he scored his Pen - although their keeper could have done better with that too.
| |
Sterling. on 09:10 - Jul 4 with 3028 views | patred | Ali looks a physical wreck. his last injury looked as if he done his hernia, which if he did will finish his WC. I beleive he came to Russia with a thigh injury in the first place, which is a bit mean because it denied someone else a place. Our next game against Sweden will be a real battle in midfield, we can't afford passengers.
| |
Sterling. on 09:12 - Jul 4 with 3024 views | Kemp_Not_Martin | What do you think about us changing our formation for Sweden? I know we often say we should never change our tactics, but do we really need a back three against them? If Maguire can do his marauding runs forward then great, else we could find ourselves a bit over run in midfield.
| |
Sterling. on 09:14 - Jul 4 with 3021 views | SonicBoom | It's an odd phenomenon that fans can't see what it is that Sterling does but the press and pundits always say he has to be in.
Sterling. on 09:15 - Jul 4 with 3021 views | Kemp_Not_Martin | Actually I would swap Rose for Young also. For me, Rose is much better going forward.
| |
Sterling. on 10:39 - Jul 4 with 2983 views | sfc1971 | Four at the back V Sweden
| |
Sterling. on 12:05 - Jul 4 with 2949 views | patred | matching up to their 424 system will have to be the way to go Maquire and Stone should be able to handle their forwards. Walker at left back and Rose would be my choice at fullback. It's a shame Bertrand is not there, this game would suit him. Their midfield though is somthing else, strong, well organised, and never bettered in this tournament. But with Kane and Rashford we have the best forwards, and their back 4 will struggle against them. This game will test Southgate as a manager, tactics will come into this game more than any so far in the WC. If he can outsmart and overcome the Swedes organisation then he will earn the reputation as Englands best manager since Venables and maybe Ramsey. Only those two have given me confidence in an England team before. And, we will need an in form Kane more than anytime before. He frightens the Swedes, but will they change to cope with him. Sterling. on 13:15 - Jul 4 with 2912 views | saint22 | agreed, astonishing Bertrand was left behind, Young is not very good at all, only blot on Southgates form so far
Sterling. on 05:54 - Jul 5 with 2715 views | Rustyhelmet | As much as Young isn't everyone's cup of tea, and everyone knows that hes going to cut back and deliver an in-swinging cross EVERY time, hes far from "not very good at all"! Yeah it would've been nice to have some representation for England but Bertrand was largely shit and disinterested all season less a handful of games. Stop talking out of your arse.
Sterling. on 07:47 - Jul 5 with 2655 views | BuenosSaint | true re Bertrand, but i did read that "statistially" he was the best full back . whatever that means! and that was in Bertrand's own interview when he talked about getting the rejection call from southgate and was surprised not to be in the squad.

Sterling. on 10:19 - Jul 5 with 2623 views | cocklebreath | The stats were pony, it showed he had more blocks, runs, assists, tackles etc but he had played loads more games than the others, it actually showed per game his stats were worse than the others. I do think he is better than young though and can do what walker is doing also

Sterling. on 22:21 - Jul 5 with 2544 views | Blue | "I'm sure Blue will appear soon spouting some crap about how Sterling has had a good season at their place". Why is a fact, crap? There are two reasons he is ineffective for England, 1. He plays with inferior players, and 2. He is being played out of position. He's not the best finisher in the world, we all know that, I'd put him wide right and start Loftus-Cheek in an advanced midfield role, personally. I thought the other night Dele Alli had an awful game, as did Lingard for most of it, that chance he had to square it to Sterling when he was free in the box, and completely fked it up, was laughable. Had Sterling done that, the press would have been all over him. Henderson had a shocker too. Funny though, England were still winning when he went off, and completely lost their shape without him on the pitch. Say what you want about him, and his international record is abysmal, but he makes the space for Kane a lot of the time, something he is very good at with City, too.

Sterling. on 12:50 - Jul 6 with 2445 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | I actually thought that Sterling did a job well and it was Alli and Lingard who were poor. I'd definitely start Loftus-Cheek instead of Alli, keep Sterling and Lingard I have no idea ... we've still got Lallana on the bench haven't we? He can't have suddenly become awful over night?

Sterling. on 12:55 - Jul 6 with 2442 views | JaySaint | I think Sterling is pretty terrible for England. Obviously, I would love him to smash in 10 against sweden and lead us to glory. but so far, utterly terrible generally. Falls over the ball ffs
