Fow one of the best players in the Premier, that amount is shocking. If he has to go, fair enough as he has been outstanding for us (and no billi big bolox either) why cant the Yanks hold out for 70 million on this one then.

If it is indeed true, it's not a completely mad price. He's 33, and in the last year of his contract, and wants to leave.

It would be a fantastic move for him, could do with some more cash though.

Yep. With a fresh contract you'd possibly double that. But nobody's going to be spending tens of millions on a 33 yr old from a newly relegated side.

Another player who's value to us far exceeds his market value, like Ash when we sold him, and Llorente/Siggy last year.

I've always been puzzled why keepers are worth so much less than forwards. Is this in euro or pounds, any source?

Allowing a player to enter a final year of a contract without offering a renewal is ridiculous.

When the club want a relegation clause inserted into a player’s contract it is normal for the player to counter with the inclusion of a release clause for a relatively low value so they can move on in the event of relegation.

Precisely. The club and player both negotiate a contract in their best interests.

I'd be really happy for him regardless of the price. Means we likely won't ever face him in goal and he gets to join a club with a rich history.

Fabianski on 14:41 - May 25 with 5506 viewsmax936

Fair point that, hopefully he’ll have a nice signing on fee and will play, if indeed this is true.

But looking at it from our point it’s a ridiculously cheap price for a keeper who had been consistently good if not great for us.

Good luck to him anyway.

He probably has it written into his contract that if relegated he can leave for a set amount .

Decent price given the situation. Hope it goes through for him.

Good luck to him. Did us proud and deserves decent move.

Strange move considering they already have a decent enough number one in Roman Burki.

He's got a reputation for making frequent, costly mistakes. They badly need an upgrade.

Fabianski on 15:38 - May 25 with 5139 viewsEU5Makaveli

Good move for him, we could do with a few more million but realistically how much would they be willing to pay for a 33 year old in the last year of his contract?
0

Fabianski on 16:45 - May 25 with 4833 viewsomarjack

They've already got highly rated Burki..and they just landed Marwin Hitz from Augsburg as a free transfer..it's highly unlikely he'll be going to Dortmund.

I think we'll probably have a massive burki in goal next season too.

Think Hitz was more to cover Weidenfeller being long past it as backup.
