McClaren incoming on 08:46 - May 2 with 3232 views | CiderwithRsie | " he is the best chairman ever and any criticism of him makes you a Brentford fan" Literally no-one has ever said that and it's not even close to what his strongest supporters would say. In fact most of his strongest supporters would support every word that Chef wrote.
McClaren incoming on 08:47 - May 2 with 3226 views | BrianMcCarthy | I agree completely re Fernandes and Twitter, Chef. 100%. But that doesn't excuse fans spreading rumours. It doesn't benefit the club in any way.

McClaren incoming on 08:55 - May 2 with 3193 views | CiderwithRsie | I've reservations about Ollie but he doesn't deserve the sack. OTOH I've wondered for some time (before the recent bereavements) if he feels the strain of the job and might decide to go. We could do a lot worse than McClaren as Chief Coach bit I'd hope that would be his job, either with Ollie staying as manager (as a way of reducing stress on him) or, if Ollie goes on his own terms, with Les as DoF controlling transfers
McClaren incoming on 08:58 - May 2 with 3186 views | paulparker | "Tony if you read this, you are awesome. Most of these people abusing you on twitter are probably Brentford fans or bonafide psychos and weirdos" the adulation that TF gets is outstanding and a little worrying TBH its like a cult on this MB , the man can do no wrong even though he has got barley anything right , the few who dare criticise the man are held with disdain and called idiots , that smile of his must be hypnotising lets not forget the one word TF keeps spouting is "stability" yet here he is again tweeting crap and putting Olly under pressure when lets face it he doesn't need to be under pressure , if olly is going through a bad time with personal stuff and maybe considering his future how about we keep it in house and say nothing , what a novel idea that would be , the bloke cannot help himself its never going to change with him

McClaren incoming on 09:00 - May 2 with 3175 views | Northernr | Agree on the Fernandes and Twitter thing, but this isn't just rumours in the usual way. I'll be amazed if Olly makes it much beyond Sunday now, think the general feeling at board level is that he's done the job they wanted him to do quite well but can he now take it on further or would it just be more of the same. Think they're frustrated by the random team selections as well. Big risk though.
McClaren incoming on 09:04 - May 2 with 3159 views | CiderwithRsie | OK PP, you've got me, clearly there are weirder and stupider people out there than I thought humanly possible. I still don't think that there is a cult of Fernandes on this board or anywhere else really.
McClaren incoming on 09:19 - May 2 with 3108 views | WatfordR | Of course, it's also possible that decisions have already been made and will be announced in due course. Olly may have decided a little while ago that he needed to step away at the end of the season (or maybe the board decided a little while ago that they would want to make a change. Whatever). In either case, the Board is not putting Olly under any additional pressure at what is a personally emotional and personally traumatic time. Rather than jumping to conclusions (mainly to support one view or another of Olly, TF, LF etc), why not let's just wait and see what the truth of it all might be. We'll know soon enough.
McClaren incoming on 09:24 - May 2 with 3092 views | WatfordR | Just a point of clarification. If the view is that TF is clueless, inept, egotistical etc etc is a minority view, doesn't that make the people holding that view "the cult"?
McClaren incoming on 09:26 - May 2 with 3089 views | ibnumber10 | The first thing is that the club and Olly puts himself first. Suffering family bereavement is very difficult, having gone through losing 2 family members and a close friend myself in the last 18 months, I’m only just getting back to some sort of functionality. I wish Olly all the best if he is going, and I hope the club can give him as much support as he needs. If Mclaren is the choice then I hope he is given time, if he is willing to work with the youngsters and the budget, it may be the next logical step for the club to continue to develop talent, and the style he uses will help that strategy. I just hope the level of expectation doesn’t rise again, we’re still along way from being a club that’s ready for a promotion challenge.
McClaren incoming on 09:31 - May 2 with 3054 views | CliveWilsonSaid | I'm not a prolific poster on here but I read quite regularly and I've never noticed a Fernandes cult either. I do get the impression that the majority of fans think that despite his mistakes we could have a lot worse and quite frankly what choice do we have?

McClaren incoming on 09:36 - May 2 with 3024 views | BostonR | Spot-on with the team selection observation. It is not only the Board that were frustrated by that. Whilst I am not an IH fan it does seem a bit knee-jerk, if it happens. He has met his remit, which I give him credit for and I am sure he may want another season to give it a go with his team. As you say, it appears the gun is loaded.
McClaren incoming on 09:37 - May 2 with 3019 views | loftboy | Just to crank the rumour up a bit, Lee Hoos was quoted the othe day saying that “ we budgeted for finishing 10th” I did wonder whether this was going through be used as an excuse for getting rid of Olly

McClaren incoming on 09:41 - May 2 with 2993 views | spencer | Because ....some fans live of this sort of sh.t. I'm inclined to agree with your assessment, a rumour from a round from a quote from an interview from the dustbin. I'm not a big fan of Ollie's management style, however, maybe by luck, the youngsters seem to have dragged him from a hole. I cannot see at the moment, any positives from brining in a new manager at this point. The players seem united, which hasn't happened for a while. The team seems young and hungry, sometimes I just wish the chairman would zip it. Not a big fan of Levy, but don't hear much coming from his mouth?
McClaren incoming on 09:49 - May 2 with 2934 views | paulparker | So basically he is being pushed out ?

McClaren incoming on 09:51 - May 2 with 2926 views | CroydonCaptJack | I agree I am a supporter of Tony as to be well-intentioned (as I believe he is) counts a lot for me. However his twitter stuff causes confusion, chaos and causes speculation.
McClaren incoming on 09:52 - May 2 with 2919 views | QPR_Jim | I read that interview and it didn't sound like an issue. Said that the championship doesn't have prize money for each position so essentially the only difference is that the higher you finish the more gate money but also more player bonuses. Lower finish smaller gates and less bonuses. I think he said something like we always budget for 10th so I assume that it's the worst case where your winning more games and paying bonuses but not high enough to get the fans excited about playoffs.
McClaren incoming on 09:53 - May 2 with 2914 views | PinnerPaul | Can we leave the now VERY tedious TF debate to the TF podcast thread where its been done to death, brought back to life and then done to death again.
McClaren incoming on 09:54 - May 2 with 2908 views | CroydonCaptJack | I saw that but don't think it is that relevant to this issue. I think the context was that they believed they would be about half way up so budgeted for the attendance figures that would generate etc.
McClaren incoming on 09:58 - May 2 with 2881 views | daveB | I'm sure this will make a lot of people happy but be careful what you wish for. It won't be long before Mcclaren is getting slated for not changing the team enough and being more of a coach than a proper manager. Holloway has done a really good job and deserves another year, if he has chosen to go then fine but if he is pushed that is piss poor
McClaren incoming on 10:09 - May 2 with 2827 views | rsonist | I'd be apprehensive about this, though there is reasonably sound logic to it. Ollie's faults have always been the other side of the coin to his strengths and it's naive or disingenuous for anyone to have thought we can have one and not the other. If you don't like us being irrationally bad then you can't have us being irrationally good either, and there have been plenty of times this season when both have applied. The idea of going all in on development is very appealing but there are unpleasant realities that have to be fulfilled to stay this level let alone challenge in it. I wouldn't know who the superior educator is but McLaren is no more a leader of men than Ramsey was. My worry is that we'll be nice soft easy meat in a harder than ever league next season.
McClaren incoming on 10:13 - May 2 with 2812 views | Gloucs_R | The last time I thought one of our managers had taken us as far as they could and we needed to change was when I backed Hughes for Warnock. I hang my head in shame. [Post edited 2 May 2018 10:14]

McClaren incoming on 10:33 - May 2 with 2742 views | BrianMcCarthy | Ok, Clive, thanks for the info. I think that letting Holloway go would be a shame in many ways, from an ethics pint of view. As you say, it would also a big risk -jeopradising stability, team spirit, youth development, recruitment among other aspects. This year has been my most enjoyable as a QPR fan since 2011 and possibly even going further back than that. There are reasons for that, and many of them are embodied in Holloway, and having someone of his decency, loyalty and humanity as our manager.
