Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 12:15 - May 1 with 2168 views | franniesTache | Sad to think there's a generation of us that've never experienced anything like this, and yet you get some Saints fans that think staying in the premier league is more important than winning trophies, or weirder still the lot that thought getting 8th place was more important than lifting the league cup last season.

Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 13:14 - May 1 with 2131 views | grumpy | My mate crying at the final whistle. Crowds on the way back waving, on bridges etc. Town afterwards. The Bus going round town. Channon's testimonial, couldn't move in the Dell that night. The plans for new ground with models of fantastic grounds at the Art Gallery.
Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 13:22 - May 1 with 2123 views | SaintNick | I went up on the train wasnt a lot of yellow on blue on show till we got in the ground due to the reputation of United fans back then and the media reports that they were planning to try and steal tickets. After the game back to the station cant remember many celebrating Saints fans in the queue for Wembley park tube station it was only when we got back to Waterloo that you started to realise that there were Saints fans around. Back in town stayed out till midnight could but a drink in a pub easily that night having just turned 15 the week before The next day saw the bus outside the Saints pub in Millbrook followed by going into town for the Civic Centre. On Monday in the Dell straight after school, invaded the pitch when Saints came on , im in the video thats on you tube mobbing Mick Channon and running round the pitch with the team and another 30 or so fans.

Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 11:50 - May 2 with 1848 views | Chesham_Saint | I went by coach and even though there were a lot of Saints coaches there were even more for the mancs (you could tell of course by the Surrey and Cornwall adverts on the side of their buses ). Afterwards It was a bit reminiscent of Rorkes Drift or the Alamo with pissed of Mancs attacking from all sides..... but we’d won so fvck ‘em!

Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 18:36 - May 2 with 1801 views | SaintGeorge | I was ten - my dad, my uncle John, Snowy Dymott, Dave Bond, Kenny somebody or other and Kenny's son Steven went to the final. Steven was fckin NINE and his dad still took him, and my dad fckin didn't. I've never forgiven the çùñt to this day. Watched it in Mr Harrisons house across the road because we only had a little black and white portable (telly not computer). And I couldn't find my scarf before kick off so i un-blutacked my cup final squad poster off the wall and rolled it up to wave about on the sofa. Mr Fox watched it with us and said fùçk a lot all the way through. We won one-nil.

Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 18:42 - May 2 with 1799 views | ericofarabia | Excellent work .... The Diary of a 9 year old kid denied the chance of going to see The Saints at Wembley I like the memory about Mr Fox swearing. One of my only memories of my 1st ever match in 1966 was hearing swear words, which back then you didn't hear on TV or in the streets at all, which I thought was pretty cool
Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 19:23 - May 2 with 1785 views | patred | I lived in Putney at the time so didn't have far to go. My brother and I didn't see any of the build up of Saints fans till we got near Wembley. Also missed out on all the celebrations on the homeward bound journey. But the game made up for it, from when Bobby Stokes(God bless him)scored all I could utter all the time was ''kick it fooking out FFS'', those last few minutes were an eternity. I must admit I was close to tears( a 32 y.o. ) when Rodriques was handed the cup. The Saints had won the cup, who would have thunk it? I'd have loved to have gone back to Southampton that night with the rest of you. I ended up at Picidilly Circus via Trafalgar Sq. There were a few Saints fans roaming around there, mostly pissed and wet from diving in water at the bottom of Nelsons column. Got back home at 1am after having a confrontation with a couple of United fans on Putney Bridge.

Anybody do anything special on this day 42 years ago? on 13:22 - May 4 with 1682 views | Channonswindmill | I remember being a very excited/scared 7 year old under the East Stand for the testimonial and that I saw very little, if any, of the game. We did leave before the end for that very reason but very proud to have been part of what was possibly the largest crowd ever at The Dell... As for May 1st, still celebrated, obviously.
