Wonder if they spoke to McBurnie first? They may have wanted his thoughts on the appointment.

Good luck to him. Learn the ropes like Monk didn't, and in the future who knows.

Not that I disagree but Monk has an 8th place PL finish to his name.

Not many managers can say that. He took his chance. If he'd dropped down the leagues, he may never have got to the PL again.

A great opportunity for him, and in my view better for aspiring managers to start outside of the PL. Maybe come back one day eh Cameron?!

I'm surprised he's that old - 47.

Minus 47 is pretty young in my books.

I heard Sousa might be in with a shout. Didn't he invent the trumpet?

Barnsley's loss is our gain then.

I had the pleasure of playing against Toshack who was 18/19 at the time. Playing in a young Swans team including Andrew Legg as well, he wasn't very good to be fair and without the surname Toshack or a similar build to his Dad he wouldn't have been anywhere near professional Clubs as a player that is. On coaching though he seems to have some good ideas and seems to be doing well.
