Club values 12:52 - Jan 7 with 3613 viewsderijack

I've been having a look at club values in The Premiership, The Championship and League One using this website:

Prem:
https://www.transfermarkt.com/premier-league/startseite/wettbewerb/GB1

Championship:
https://www.transfermarkt.com/championship/marktwerteverein/wettbewerb/GB2

League One:
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/league-one/marktwerteverein/wettbewerb/GB3/stich

I have no idea if it is accurate or not, but its just to gauge the general drop

Where would we sit in the Championship if we were to get relegated? Given we don't own our ground, surely below Forest and those up the road?

If it got even worse, where in League One would we be? I always think of Doncaster with their 'new' stadium like ours leased from the council. They are valued at 2.9 mill Euros.

I suppose we would have our academies, but would we even be able to afford to run them?

I suppose it gives some light that the club could be repurchased in the future with a bit of chipping in from people if we really dropped away.

No idea how they get those values but a loss making mid chamionship club that doesn't own ground - £20m probably generous. Oh hang on we own £20m of academy / training grounds. They'll be a fortune in Swansea!

The values are based on the worth of the squad, not what the overall "club" is worth.

If we drop to league one you'd think it would be possible to buy the club as it won't be worth a lot.

How much money does the trust have in it's 'war chest'?

So we have the most 'foreign' players in the PL? Does it count English players as foreign because we're a Welsh club?

TBH we survived perfectly well in league one last time around, can't see it being any different.

I started doing some analysis along these lines when I was toying with the idea of making some presentation slides in connection with the Trust deal. What we M&A professionals refer to as a comparable transaction analysis.

But I didn't get any further than researching one deal, in which Bolton went for £7.5 in equity value early 2016, by which time I had seen enough!

If somebody wants an unpaid internship to to some research and find more data for me here's a good source of deals:

Simply google the transaction, find out when and how much was paid for the shares and what percentage of the company that represented, and the last available net debt position of the club if possible.

This is why I think everyone should (re)join the trust and vote legal action when the time comes. A substantial warchest is more important than a 21% stake in the club at the moment.

All assuming of course, that we have a strong chance of winning in court.
