RIP Harry Dean Stanton 11:32 - Sep 16 with 4940 viewsade_qpr

Solid innings of 91 including 60 plus years as a actor.
Good actor who has appeared in some great films.
Alien
Escape From New York
Cool Hand Luke
The Godfather 2
to name a few.

Indeed. The man who acted by not acting.

Two things I had to lift from the ABC obit:

"In Partly Fiction, when [David] Lynch asked him how he would like to be remembered, Stanton replied: "It doesn't matter." "

And...

I'm not a big fan of films in general and Hollywood ones in particular but I loved Paris Texas.

An interesting, subtle film with a fabulous performance from HDS as a broken man. Really moving. Plus a great soundtrack from Ry Cooder (with HDS singing).

It was so good I went back the next night to see it again. I've never done that before or since.

He was the best thing in the best movie of all time (Repo Man).

91 years, career was still running. Top man, top life.

Fine actor. He always made a film better which is all you can ask. 'Paris, Texas' the highlight.

Repo Man is fun, Paris Texas is great.

I'd recommend both but if you have to choose just the one I'd got for PT every time.
