Which is the correct spelling please?

Both are evident in signage throughout Swansea and I'm informed it's not the English/Welsh spelling.

I remember being confused once talking to a French guy at the rugby in Paris. He said that he'd stayed at a town near Swansea called Ponadoolay.

Quite a non sensical response as I was talking about "the land", i.e. Wales, and not anywhere else like, for instance, South Africa. What a tool.!

My ex was from the Bont.

Took me a good few years after moving to Swansea before I could pronounce local place names like Cwmrhydyceirw & Ystalyfera.

Mind you, some Yorkshire place names are a bit tricky - mainly because locals refuse to pronounce them the way they look on the page.

Examples:

Allerton - pronounced "Ollerton"

Sowerby - pronounced "Sawby"

Slaithwaite - pronounced "Slough-it"

Northowram - pronounced "North-are-ram"

Mytholmroyd - pronounced "My-thum-Royd"

Leeds - pronounced "sh*t"

Etc.

As an English speaking Welshman (who has worked down there - not that that alters my thinking) it's a double D.

Apparently Gambia is known as The Gambia because of the river. Useless piece of information, but it may explain why some other place names are preceded by The.

Definitely a double D for me as well.

The bra size isn't too bad either.

Side note: it would make my life a little less miserable if people all over the net stopped using the word "defiantly" - it's DEFINITELY" for fugs sake!

Doesn't matter how you spell. It's pronounced Ponterdillis.
