For all the people who said good players never go to relegation fighting sides 08:31 - Feb 5 with 7284 viewsFerrieBodde

How do you explain Ndidi going to Leicester, Sakho going to Palace, Oviedo going to Sunderland, and Ranocchia and N'Diaye going to Hull??? Please tell me. All I heard from you lot was how clubs in positions like ours can't sign good players and that no decent player will ever want to go to a side in danger of going down no matter how much money is offered to them.

All throughout January you imbeciles were going on and on about how it's impossible for teams fighting to stay up to sign good players when others rightfully criticized our lack of transfer activity, completely ignorant of the fact that it happens nearly every season and was happening as you spoke. It seriously boggles my mind how our supporters just cannot accept the fact that we have a chairman and director of football who is woefully out of his depth and completely incompetent when it comes to attracting decent players to Swansea and persuading them to sign with us.

I'm not so sure people were saying that. In fact, apart from a couple of sychophants most people on here want Jenkins gone

True.

I think the concept of what our new owners want (ie sustainability) is the right philosophy to take. The problem was trusting the utter fückwit Jenkins to deliver on recruitment.

That's absolutely what people were saying. Refer to this thread about Martin Olsson, and comments like "I don't think we can expect top signings when we're entrenched in the relegation zone," "If a player is willing to join us in the situation we're in...then I'm delighted" and "If you were expecting more then no wonder you're disappointed":

Most of our fans would love to see Jenkins gone and a better class of player come in, and no doubt they would join us at a price.
However when the likes of Hull start hemorrhaging money due to being committed to paying scandalous wages after they are relegated, we would be saying thank goodness our club didn't buy into that.
Our pay structure isn't worth breaking just to try and buy safety.
It hasn't helped Palace so far, and it didn't help QPR, Portsmouth,Bolton, Blackpool.
I want PL football as much as the next fan, but not at the cost of losing everything we've worked for

Sustainability my ass. Spending less than nothing (we had a positive net spend of over 10m in the summer ffs) and ending up being in a relegation dogfight because of it is not sustainable. Neither is getting relegated.

And these new owners didn't say anything about sustainability. They did say a whole bunch of bullshit about spending money on the squad, making a "splash" in the transfer market, their incredible desire to win, and how they were going to take our squad to the next level. Just look at some of the things they said after the takeover:

"Steve and I have both said our first, second and third priority is what's going to help us on the pitch short and long-term."

"Our message to fans is we are very focused on winning and continued success."

"The biggest thing of all is that when we go out on that pitch we're competitive."

"We want to build a football club that is competitive, exciting to watch...Perhaps Swansea has been seen as a stepping-stone club for some players in the past, a chance to show what they can do in the Premier League before moving quickly on. Those days are over."

"I'm a lover of sports and I'm highly competitive. I have a true passion for sport and winning," says Kaplan.

"It's something that I love, something that drives me to be involved in sports - you're in the game to win the game and that's why we're here."

“I think Huw has a tremendous football mind and he’s proven that over more than a decade. We want to make sure Huw and the club have the resources to succeed. We want to make a splash."

"We will be relentless in our determination to continually improve this club - and we have the financial resources to do so. We will be competitive and we will outwork our opponents on the pitch and in the boardroom."

"One thing we want to be clear about is our priorities as owners. Priority number one, two and three is the performance of the team on the pitch. We will field a competitive team that will battle every week against the greatest teams and players in the world."

I just wish these no good lying bastards would sell the team. They're as two faced and duplicitous as it gets. At least Petty always made his intentions clear and never made statements that he was going to invest into the team and engaged in attempts at repeatedly deceiving the supporters. As long as these two cvnts are in charge we're going nowhere but down. If not this season, then probably soon.

The Sakho, Ranocchia, and N'Diaye signings were all loans. If you think those 3 were being greedy by going to much more inferior clubs than they were at previously to make the same exact amount of money they were making before or less, then you obviously have absolutely no idea what the word greed means.

Very few individuals associated with the modern game are not affected by greed. It's a short career and they don't do it unless there's something extra in it for them.
Players with top clubs can just bench warm and pick up their wages, so don't believe they are doing it for the same money, whether it's bonuses or whatever they get

A lot of people on here wanted us to show more ambition than we did in January. I'm not sure who Ferrie is venting at, but I don't think the majority view was that we couldn't sign good players because of our league position.

......do you not understand how loans work? Players who go on loan make either the same exact amount they were making previously or less, with their new club agreeing to pay a percentage or the full portion of the wages stipulated in the contract the player signed with his parent club.

If anything, Sakho's move from Liverpool to Palace and Ranocchia's move from Inter to Hull show how not greedy and unmotivated by money they are. Players going out on loan often make less than what they were previously making, and it is always the case when one goes from a big team to a small one as the two of them have. Jese Rodriguez just took a big pay cut to go from PSG to Las Palmas on loan this week, while in recent years Micah Richards, Gareth Barry, Falcao, James Vaughan, Joe Cole, Adebayor, Thauvin, Balotelli, and Gaston Ramirez all took pay cuts (some very exorbitant) to go on loan. See:

Well it looks to me we've got two good players, that have fitted us like a glove, maybe four. Jenkins is still a two faced c*nt that should get out of our club.

Most, if not all, of those players you mention, no doubt have demanded huge wages and no relegation clauses, and anyway, looking at your list I wouldn't want most of them free with my cornflakes.

What was your point again?

I don't get the OP point either I think we had a pretty good window.
Compared to our relegation rivals.

Hull Sold Snodgrass and Livermore so no wonder they could afford the Milan CB wages.
Palace spent 41 million quid and got tonked 0_4 by the bottom side yesterday.Would you want us spending over the top on them players.
Boro basically bought 2 very ordinary strikers that won't be any better than Negredo.
Sunderland brought in a few Everton cast offs but sold there best defender to fund it.
We spent 18 million and got 4 decent footballers in and look a much better side.

"anyway, looking at your list I wouldn't want most of them free with my cornflakes. "

Jesus Christ.

I've read some insanely stupid things on here (huge understatement), but this has to be the most mindbogglingly idiotic statement I've ever read.

To say that you wouldn't want

1) Ranocchia, an Italian international and Inter Milan CB who in his first 2 games has now kept successive clean sheets against Manchester United and Liverpool

2) Oviedo, a player who had one of the best assists to minutes ratio of any fullback in the league in the last 4 seasons despite getting limited playing time as a result of having to compete with the best left back in the league (Baines), and who looked absolutely superb yesterday for Sunderland as they smashed Palace 4-0

3) Ndidi, who is one of the best midfield prospects today and has been hailed as the next Kante, and who has already seamlessly transitioned into the PL, averaging a whopping 3.3 successful tackles, 2.3 interceptions, and 5.7 interceptions per game

and 4) N'Diaye, an already PL proven player, who was one of the best DMs in La Liga last season, earned an 8m move to Villarreal in the summer, and who yesterday absolutely dominated the midfield against Liverpool and practically won the game by himself (he also scored a goal)

"for free with [your] cornflakes" is retarded beyond words. What club do you support? Real Madrid? Bayern? Because there's absolutely no way you can be a Swansea City supporter if you think that the players above are not only not good enough for us but not even worthy of coming here for free. Seriously.

It's not impossible to sign top players in January when you are towards the bottom of the table but wages contract conditions and transfer fees get inflated. As you have correctly pointed out our new owners are not putting money into the playing side. Two edged - if they did we would be in hock to them big time.

We have however not utilised the loan market in this window and that could be a crucial error. Presumably because we already have too many average players on good contracts that we couldn't ship out to make room or wouldn't leave with the under 23's on first team wages.

Our failures over a number of windows still haunt us.

Perhaps you should try and take a look at the articles I linked. It's clearly stated in many of them that the players in question took big pay cuts to go on loan.
