Been meaning to chase this up all week, there was a photo in last Saturday's programme showing Charlton's Arthur Horsfield scoring against Dale at The Valley in the 1972/73 season. The only Dale player visible in the pic is the keeper but I don't recognise him. Can anyone who has the programme and was around in that era put a name on our keeper that day ? According to the book " The Survivors " the goalkeeper in that game was R E Jones. I don't remember him at all but the book also says he was signed from Burnley and played 24 games for the 'Dale before leaving to join Barrow. | | | |

Rodney Jones was a keeper we paid £4,000 for and falls into the worst keeper category, marginly better than Matt Dickins, we could catch a ball and flapped a lot. We released him at end of 1972 I think then signed him back again releasing better keepers on the books, fortunately for us Mick Poole xcame in and kept his place | | | |
