Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 08:12 - Sep 2 with 1396 views | Capt_Koons | It very much depends on what Liverpool and Spurs need at the time, but I don't expect Boufal or PEH to hang around long if they're any good.

But from the fans' perspective it doesn't really matter if they go for £20m or £30m if that money isn't reinvested.

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 08:36 - Sep 2 with 1382 views | SaintNick | I would rather have this title than the previous ones we have had 1. Spending above our means 2006/07 2. Administration 2008/09 3. Poor signings that we made a loss on (30 consecutive years 1984-2014.) Good football clubs are not built on spending every penny that you earn, they are built on having a good strategy both on the pitch and off it financially, how much do you think we spent on signing the likes of VVD etc to new contracts. Fact is that if we want to keep top players on top wages we cannot do that from gate money and other income sources alone at the moment, we have to find the money from elsewhere and some of that might be transfer income. If Katharina Liebherr reads Saints social media sites I would think she would be thinking what an ungrateful lot some Saints supporters are, I have brought stability to the club, the best period of league success in over 30 years, yet they are still moaning that I am not putting my hand in my own pocket. I know lets oust Katharina, bring in some dodgy owner who leaverages the club into millions of pounds worth of debt and overspends to try and get one moment of personal glory before cutting the investment and leaving the club to die. I can understand why supporters want to see money spent, but football today is more than just a football stadium with a team we have to make sure that we dont follow the path of the likes of Pompey and Leeds. Moan about our failure to invest at the end of the season, but to start doing it now only three games in is ludicrous. I am truly shocked by some of the posts I see on social media, if the club had listened to the same rants in 2014 and 2015, then we would not have finished 6th & 7th of that im certain. I have to laugh at those wh say we have appointed a manager they have not heard of ! If they hadnt heard of him then it possibly shows that they are not qualified to make any sort of judgement on him. I'm sorry if this does not tie in with some peoples opinions and yes I do appreciate that everyone is entitled to their opinion and that mine s not always right, but there are two forms of opinion, informed opinion and ill informed ones. To write off the club with a track record over the last two years with this strategy, to write off an experienced proven manager and to write off a team after only three games is either an ill informed opinion or those giving it are in the wrong jobs

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 09:07 - Sep 2 with 1351 views | SonicBoom | Save your breath Nick. There is only so many times you can explain the situation. I think fans have lost the feeling of "supporting" a club and nowdays just feel a sense of entitlement and bitterness that we are not all Man City. I have never seen so much negativity and we've been in far worse situations than this.
Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 09:13 - Sep 2 with 1347 views | Leslie | The burley era was one where we splashed the cash and we had lazy c unts like Wright phillips, euell and Raziak (another player that got abused but had excellent scoring record). I'm extremely happy the way we are run now.

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 10:28 - Sep 2 with 1293 views | Boris_ | When have we sold players in January? Club policy is not to sell key players on Deadline Day or the January transfer window. We'll lose VVD for a huge fee ( probably around £50m ) next season. Bertrand is very happy at Southampton, there is only 1 or 2 clubs London that would potentially turn his head if they came in for him. Forster is very happy here and can't see him leaving whilst his club GK coach is also the national team GK coach. [Post edited 2 Sep 2016 10:32]

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 10:35 - Sep 2 with 1278 views | kingslandstand1 | There definitely is a lot of negativity on here, but there is also some reality with where the team currently are. Yes we all know where we were 7 or 8 years ago and we are all in honesty, pinching ourselves (for Christ's sake we are playing a competitive game at the San Siro next month!), but because of this dramatic rise, expectations have also risen and probably too highly (?) But is there anything wrong with ambition and wanting to go to even further heights? The reality is that we will not be a regular top 4 club, but what's wrong with wanting to be a regular top 8 club or even top 6 club Bottom line is this season probably needs to be one of standing back and try and get some stability back. We cannot keep changing things every summer, but who within the club is to provide that stability? This season we need to be top 10 at least otherwise the rot may start setting in but I'd be chuffed if we got top 8 But please at lest try and keep the players we have and improve where necessary in January

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 10:46 - Sep 2 with 1261 views | mesquitaman | I totally agree with the sensible sentiments on this post. My real desire is to see a bigger stadium supported by lower prices.
Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 10:54 - Sep 2 with 1253 views | kingslandstand1 | Slight punctuation error on my part. Should have been a stop after "possibly"!!! It should have come across that I don't believe Forster will go and will be the next Kelvin as in he will be here long term, but I have a feeling VVD will have eyes turned somewhere as he came across to me at the Sunderland game that he was not fully focussed (gut reaction only) Bertrand? Not sure, I mean did you honestly think that Jose would be looking for a move away as was evident by the shenanigans of the last few weeks with him

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 11:01 - Sep 2 with 1243 views | SonicBoom | There is nothing wrong with reality at all. There's also nothing wrong with ambition either. No one is saying that we shouldn't aim to be top ten or top 8, or even challenge for the top 4. The difference seems to be the strategy we use to achieve it.

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 11:29 - Sep 2 with 1222 views | ThermosNBlanket | I agree with a lot of that apart from Puel, my problem is why change the formation when you don't have the players to play that? The club ethos was same pattern across the teams - why then are u23, u18's playing 4-2-3-1 yet Puel sticks to rigid diamond that the players dont like or can play? I have witnessed several players squabbling this season which havent done for ages. Its not lost on me the only time we have looked to be doing something is last 15 against Watford and Sunderland when we abandoned it and went gung ho forgetting that diamond. Puel explanation is we need to retain possession if playing every 3 days - well we aren't yet so why play it now when you haven't bought in players that can do that? Some good signings.....but still worries me that we are an injury and suspension from Yoshida and Stephens as centre halves. Planning needs to be done to replace an ageing Fonte and when we sell VVD next season as he will be on many clubs radar as not many as good as him about.

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 12:40 - Sep 2 with 1125 views | Boris_ | Well Forster won't be going to Cardiff. If Watson leaves though, Forster will follow. Until then, I doubt he will go.

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 13:14 - Sep 2 with 1095 views | dirk_doone | Van Dijk for sure. The policy seems to be to keep them here for 2 years until their transfer value has doubled, then sell them. He's the one they can get the most money for and this will be his 2nd year. Goalies don't usually command such big fees as outfield players, but Forster is probably the next most saleable player. Perhaps, they'll also sell Bertrand if they get a big enough offer. They were pobably hoping that one of the Academy products like Ward-Prowse or Targett would be good enough to sell, but they're not.

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 13:19 - Sep 2 with 1088 views | dirk_doone | I doubt those 2 will be sold until the summer after next as this is only their first year here, so their price won't have gone up enough.

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 13:34 - Sep 2 with 1064 views | Del_Bianco | I'm not. I want a manager with a personality that gives a few witty quips to the press in every conference. I want us to splash £20m+ on transfer deadline day EVERY window on big name players with premier league experience. I want us to give these players massive contracts so when they inevitably underperform no one else will want them so they'll never leave. Until we are run like that we will continue to fail

Who will we sell next summer when we try to retain the transfer profit tittle on 13:41 - Sep 2 with 1048 views | Del_Bianco | Football changes, you have to keep moving forward. Some of the top clubs in Europe are playing the way we do now and we're evolving with them. People seem to forget a formation isn't set in stone these days, these systems are fluid. Players don't stick to one position these days it's not 1982 anymore! My main concern for us is that at the moment we seem to lack a bit of power in midfield We've got some excellent ball players but we lack a dominant player there, im not convinced Romeu is the man for that role even though he's a very good player. I'd like to see Claise start alongside Romeu as think he's good at closing down, picking up loose balls and getting it forward quickly
