Yes the big boys are spending lots of money and money doesn't always buy you success. The Trouble is the likes of Palace,West Ham, Everton etc are also spending big or I think will be and not selling their best players.
I don't think saints fans demand success they just don't want to go backwards after 3 years of progression ? Nothing wrong with that. We should always being looking to improve .The next two weeks in the transfer market will define our season. | |

The thing that bothers me with Puel is that he came in and immediately instituted the diamond formation. It doesn't seem like he took into account the current squad and capabilities at all. He just wants his diamond. So here we are a #6 team, and he's changing the formation. We now have a number of guys who don't fit and will need to be replaced. What I find strange is the whole southanpton way thing is about having a way of playing throughout the whole club from top to bottom. We've played a certain way for about four years, signed players for that system, coached young players for that way and now we're ripping that up to suit a new manager when we've previously insisted the manager fits round us. | |

We can't be judge and jury for at least 10 games, so far we've been OK without really clicking into top gear. We could have easily nicked the Watford game and if Long takes his chance or Tadic isn't offside at Old Trafford then we're all 'happy days' and not playing great but getting results. If/when we find our shooting boots we're still a team no one really fancies playing who can take on anyone in the league.
Ron started under similar circumstances to Puel so why can't he do a similar job? All the prior evidence points to him having a good chance of doing so, we've been a selling club since we're back in the prem, bought in replacements right up until deadline day, some players work out and some don't, new manager plays a different way to the previous one etc... Back to the opening post. Why would you feel sorry for him? Hes come into this job with his eyes wide open. Hes getting a fantastic salary and when it goes wrong will get a life changing (to you or I) compensation payout. I dont think he is the yes man that people are making him out to be, hes changed tactics and got the team playing as he wants. I would say Saturday is almost a must win to get some feel good factor around the place.
