I would not think we would hold a press conference to announce that Fonte was going, it could be a new signing, it could be just the normal press conference held two days before the weekends match, or it could be to announce that Fonte is signing a new deal or is refusing to play, the possibilities are endless | |

Yet another Summer where this year, the likes of Pellé, Wanyama and Mané have decided they want out and have 'moved on'. Only difference is, this time around, we've also lost a very capable manager.
So it would be nice - very nice infact - if the Press conference was a REAL statement of intent by the club to show that we mean REAL business by unveiling not one but TWO marquee signings for a combined fee of around 30-40 million for the pair!
Give the fans something to believe in - a real belief that we mean business and aim to have a right go this season in both the league AND in Europe. A top quality CB? A replacement for Mané and his terrific pace? A ball-winning, pin-point distributing attacking midfielder? A lethal striker?
I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that - as it stands - we look very... bland. I need something to get REALLY excited about. All I can see at the moment is mid-table obscurity.

The reason why this will definitely not happen can be seen in the sale of Vic. This out of many sales has to be one of the most disappointing, as it felt like the club was just desperate to get some money in. That one just didn't make sense, as to me he's worth £11m or so a season as a player, so one more season and him leaving for nothing was fine by me. But the club was desperate to make sure that didn't happen. So the chances of a marquee signing(s) is as good as nil. [Post edited 17 Aug 2016 13:57]
