Well we go WTO rules with our commonwealth bloc (UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand). Strike deals with Brazil, India, China, etc. The EU would eventually come crawling on their knees.
Whether they like it or not we will be successful outside the EU, and countries such as Holland and Denmark will pull out eventually. The EU's days are numbered. [Post edited 30 Jun 2016 21:20]

Well it may not be the choice I wanted but we do have to be successful and I'm sure we will. I'm all for us losing the EU bureaucracy.
I think the future of Europe could be an enlarged EFTA ie the EU without Brussels or pretensions of a Federal state which would be a great result. I just hope it doesn't tip Europe into a disastrous recession en route. [Post edited 30 Jun 2016 22:16]

Sadly Len the EU cannot be prevented from having a torrid time. The single currency cannot work. It's utter madness to have olive farmers in Portugal using the same currency as motor manufactures in Germany. It can't work. It won't ever work. I just can't understand why the Mediterranean countries have put up with it.

We seem to agree on that too. The Euro was and is a nonsense as you say. It has helped the Med countries milk the tourists as it put up the price of everything in restaurants and bars in resorts but that's about it.

Why does everyone keep banging on about German cars,if you can afford to buy a BMW or a Mercedes you're not going to baulk at and extra 4%; you just won't have the smokers pack or the rear tinted windows pack or whatever.
The big problem with trading under WTO rules is the passporting of the service industry, you do that and you'll lose it, don't believe me try renting an office in Dublin's financial district right now. | | | |
