Didn't realise he was on the board of directors. How does that work? Surely he's not going to sack himself?

Good grief 'Arry would get a nosebleed going north of Cricklewood let alone going to Tyneside! No it is either Moyes or the cheap option of indeed Super Garry Monk.

Being serious for a moment though, he would probably their best bet to short term turnaround and recover wouldn't he? That dressing room needs a massive boot up the arse and showing that they don't run the club.

Would Moyes risk joining Newcastle knowing there is a strong chance they will be relegated?

Depends if he thinks he has a better medium term option I suppose. If he can guarantee mega PL wages no matter what, plus a big transfer/pay kitty even if they go down, then he might think it's a decent punt even if he takes them down. It's only because we didn't accept the greedy no risk shite that we couldn't get one of these cowardly c***s. Which is why I'd tell them all to boil their heads in the summer if they really did turn us away.

That's a good question.

I guess if he wants to return to the English Premier League, given that his stock has fallen after failures at Yernited and in Spain, he probably isn't going to get a much better offer than this one. I suppose if he is assured that he'll still be in the job next season if they get relegated, he might be tempted.

I'd say they'd be odds on to bounce back at the first attempt with a decent manager at the helm.

Quality appointment IF Benitez gets it he may even keep them up with JJS as skipper !!

Got a reasonable fixture list left ; if we were in their position I'd quite fancy our chances of staying up with those games left ....

Think it will be Villa Norwich & Sunderland tbh...

I've met McLaren and his wife and he is aryiculate intelligent sarcastic and has been saying for a while that his players have not been performing

despite what the fans say I see him as a manager capable of rebuilding Newcastle from the ground up in the championship with a 5 year plan

Steve McClaren on 22:45 - Mar 8 with 1399 viewspencoedjack

Out of interest who do you put the blame for the players not performing down to ? MaClaren bought most of them.

Steve McClaren on 01:57 - Mar 9 with 1338 viewsdameedna

Fair response. Was expecting worse.
I'd say he could have bought better but he also had existing contracts, still no excuse, he's failed again.
I know we got rid of Monk but if we had McLaren I would try and keep him for a number or reasons.
Might be a lone voice here but at one time he was the brightest hope and he does have some good skills. It is a shame it has not worked out maybe he could have done better at another club but he is an expensive manager based on his CV so only big clubs can afford him. For that you cannot languish in the bottom 2 and lose at home to Bournemouth.
If he does survive he'll bring Newcastle up and revive the club but it looks like hes a goner.

He done a great job of trying to bring a big club Derby up & revive them.

I think your judgement is clouded due to the fact you met him & he seemed a nice fella.

Truly awful manager.

Some good coaches simply don't have what it takes to become good managers. McLaren is the prime example.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

McLaren is a truly awful manager, but the £80M spent since he's been there hasn't been down to him. He has no say in recruitment apparently.

Newcastle will always be shit until Ashley goes. They're rotten to the core. Replacing managers won't even paper over the cracks. It's been a car-crsh of a club, ever since Ashley took over and decided to use the club as an advertising platform for Sports Direct.
Remember when he wanted to change the stadium name from St James' Park to SportDirect.co.uk or some such nonsense, and the fans went ballistic?

I almost feel sorry for the fans. Over 50K turn out every home match to watch all that nonsense. Surprised Ashley hasn't been lynched yet.

NUFC owe Mike Ashley £129M. He ain't going anywhere. Can you imagine what will happen if he left or called in his debt?

Not strictly true. In one in 4 appearances he's been one of their best players. Which was always his problem.
