Any news coming out of the club regarding whether the pitch is going to be playable tomorrow? There was an abundance of rain falling in Rochdale early this morning which any pitch would have struggled to handle. Hope the drains have held up and taken most of the water. We need to play this game tommorow to try and rid the demons of last week.
Speaking to someone at the club a couple of days ago who said it was in the lap of the gods in regards to the game being played. I'm not holding out much hope of it going ahead..
Weren't the club expecting the specialist they commissioned to come and have a look at the current state of the playing surface earlier this week? Seem to remember there was particular concern over the drainage at the Sandy Lane End of the ground? I don't recall seeing anything following this up on the official website since the original announcement was made. I wonder what the specialists conclusion was and just how badly damaged the pitch really is . I suppose we will find out tomorrow if the game goes ahead. If drainage is the real big issue, with the rain we have had over the last 24 hours another postponement may not be impossible.
I drove past the Stadium this afternoon and stopped to have a quick look through the gates where I could. Couldn't really see that much but certainly the Pearl St half looks absolutely fine with loads of grass. There were a few dodgy patches down the other end but really didn't look too bad - the worst bits were round the touchlines - off the pitch. Hopefully it doesn't cut up too much when they start playing - will just have to get a few goals in the 1st half on the good side of the pitch!
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
